Question about Dishwashers
RE: Maytag dishwasher, model #WU1004, serial #101984
When I press the ''ON'' button on the membrane pad of the dishwasher, the display indicates a steady ''0'' (normally blinks) and the water valve remains closed. Nothing happens when I select a wash option. If I don't press any buttons, the display will blank out after about 15 seconds.
If I press the ''OFF'' button, the display will indicate ''dr'' (the pump does not start) and a second press will blank out the display.
I have tested the door switches, water level switch and water valves with an ohm meter and they seem to be OK. I have also tried disconnecting power to the machine with no success.

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

I'm Harvey the master Plumber.
Your problem is: dishwasher powers up when switched on via control panel. When start is selected, the lights indicate wash but nothing happens. This may sound stupid but first make sure no one turned the water off to the d/w. If OK then you likely have a clogged or failed solanoid valve. The d/w must be removed for replacement. I don't recomend this for the average homeowner. You might consider utilizing our Repair Directory to find a repairman.

SOURCE: Maytag Dishwasher Doesn't Start
on a dishwasher an ohmmeter is almost useless. the best way to check is to look for voltage. at the door switch check for voltage to ground on both sides. if you have 120 on both sides of the switch then follow the wire over to the control board. if you have 120 going into the control board and nothing coming out of the control then you nood to start looking for a broken neutral. however the likelyhood that its the control panel may be a better idea especially if you are hitting buttons and nothing happens. try reseating any ribbon cables
