The security for the wireless is set up on the device providing the wireless network. Im assuming its the WLI device? You will need to log into that device to setup the security on it. Feel free to comment back so i can assist you further!!

Issue with HIRO H50069 running on XP 32-bit. Network card keeps randomly disconnecting and reconnecting to wireless networks.

For that you need to reset your router to factory defaults.
Then reconfigure fix this problem.
First RESET your router to defaults.
for that press RESET button for 10 seconds RESET button is in back side of router.
Then connect your router to computer with ethernet cable.
Then you can access it with following link.
http://192.168.1.1
or
http://192.168.0.1
type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password"
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Set WAN settings as your internet service provider settings.
Enable DHCP .
Click on wireless and enable wi fi.
If you want secure router then enable WEP security then add new code it is your password key for connect wi fi.
Also change channel type in wireless option 4,6 and 11 channel are best.
Try 1 by 1 then save settings and restart router.

Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks.

I AM ON TOTAL BROADBAND HOW DO I CONNECT WIRELESS TO MY COMPUTOR

With a broadband connection you will need a wireless router (you will connect your broadband modem to the router) a wireless adaptor for every computer you want to be wireless. If you have a desktop you can either add a pci wireless card (you will need to open your pc and insert the card in a pci slot) or you can use a usb wireless adaptor.

Broadband connection

You should find the manual that comes with the Router. It will have good instructions on the details to configure this.

Basically you will use your browser on your desktop to connect to a web page within your nb504 router.
You will turn on wireless connections and enable security plus give your wireless network a name.
Once that is done you will configure security on your laptop to connect to your wireless network.

Don't skip the security bit or your neighbors will be able to use your internet connection for free.

The default settings in modem devices are really good these days so follow the recommendations in your router manual and you should be able to figure it out.

If you can't find your router manual you should be able to download it from Netcomm.

Hope this helps

I have bought a wireless broadband router thinking It would enable me to use my laptop in wireless mode what do I need?

To use a laptop computer wirelessly a few things are required.1) make sure that the router/Access Point (AP) has the proper connections (i.e. power, data access such as ADSL or or other broadband internet connection, and good placement of the AP so that the signal goes to the locations that you want to get connected wirelessly. 2) Make sure that you have a power option where you want to connect wirelessly (either a good strong battery or a place to plug in the power cord). 3) Make sure that all appropreate security concerns are addressed (such as proper signal encoding to guard against someone using your connection to do something illegal, or that the signal does not overlap with some one else's to where there is interferance for you or them).

For specific help with making the connections or the specific software settings please post more details (computer operating system, router make and model, and connection details). Good luck and welcome to the unwired.

D-Link DWL-G510 Connected but no packets

Hi,
According to the user guide for your motorola broadband modem it doesnot support wirless capability , ie it can only hook your computers to the interenet using the wire. refer the following link

http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/SB5101/downloads/SB5101_UG_EN.pdf

What is required , is additional pair of hardware ie.
1. Wireless Router(eg linksys or netgear)
or
2.Router/broadband modem(given by the ISP)

Your connection would then be configured through the wireless router , that would give you wireless capability.

Refer to the following link , it gives you the a step by step guide to setting up the wireless connection .
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/wireless/2003/03/21/home_wifi.html

Best of luck .....

Thanks
mandeep

PS Do let me know if you need more assitance.

Wireless connection

There are so many possibilities.. The range or distance might be the trouble.. Is the neighbor using a notebook? If so, move the pc to within a few meters of the wireless router, to see if you get a signal. There are lots of other things you can try.. There is detection software to see available networks Eg 'netstumbler', can be downloaded free.. Your router might be setup in such a way, that it limits number of connections or by MAC address.. So you might need to change the configuration in the router. Mostly you can go into the router config. via a web browser like IE (Internet Explorer), just by typing in the IP address of the router.. But you might need to know the IP & user ID & password (if there is one).. So.. you can see there are a lot of things to be done, if you want to solve this problem..

Also here is a possible fix from another user on Fixya.. (to be carried out on the neighbor's pc)

you may have another wireless connection other than your own set as automatic, or more than one connection in your settings of the same name, so right click on your network icon in your task bar or in network connections in device manager and select view all wireless connections, click on it and when all the connections show, highlght, delete all of them, then close the window.

Your notebook should now indicate that it found new wireless connections, click on the popup and select your connection name and click connect, at this point you will be asked to enter the passkey if you have security enabled.

give it a go.. might help. Let me know if you want further help.

Can't Connect to wireless router

First, if you are using XP, and installed the Dlink Adapter Utility on your computer, you need to turn off the Windows Zero Wireless Configuration Utility in the Services Panel.. (it is not a good idea to run both the Proprietary Utility (Dlink) AND the Windows Utility..

If you did not install this Dlink Utilty, Ignore the following!

Start > Run > services.msc (ok)

Services Window pops up.

Scroll down to the Windows Zero Wireless Configuration and Disable it.

Now, try to connect again and see if the password box comes up!

BTW: you need to make sure that the type of Encryption you setup on the router is compatible with your card. In other words, make sure that if you enabled WAP that the card supports it...
