Question about Sony VAIO VGC-RB50 PC Desktop

Open Question

Detecting through any and all ports

Specs: Sony VAIO VGC-RB50 Desktop, Win XP

I've been having trouble with my PC since I bought it where it randomly chooses not to detect something plugged into my computer. Sometimes it refuses to see a memory card, sometimes a jump drive, sometimes an external hard drive, and sometimes it won't see anything but itself at all. The only solution we have is to reboot, reboot, reboot until the computer cooperates.

Every time we send it in for tech support, they seem to be satisfied when they get it to work once and give it back to us. Now the warranty has expired and we don't have the spare cash to keep sending it in to be "fixed". If we could afford a new computer, we would simply buy one, but right now we're stuck with what we have.

Is there anything we can do to at least increase the frequency of it detecting the devices so we don't have to spend all afternoon rebooting and getting frustrated?

SOURCE: My computer shut off and won't come back on

In my first post I stated I had just had the power supply replaced. The lights do come on inside the computer so it's getting power, it just won't turn on.

SOURCE: Is there a rest button on the Sony VAIO VGC-RB50

Hello,

Do you mean Reset button?

Computers these days do not have Reset buttons. What you can do is hold the power button on for about 5 seconds and the computer will shut down. Press it again and the computer will boot up again.

If this is not what you mean, please explain futher.

Thanks for using Fixya.

How to update drivers for xp

Official support has gone by the wayside for Windows XP. If you have a working internet connection on the computer you should be able to update most things with Windows Update. If you are having trouble getting a specific driver you can download it directly from the link below.

If you are having trouble getting an internet connection on the machine, consider downloading the "Network Drivers" and move them to the computer using a USB Flash Drive.

Hi! Is it possible to change videocard in a sony vgc-lt33ce all in one desktop computer?

not easily. the card is soldered onto the board. if it is malfunctioning you can reflow the board yourself or get a professional to do it. if you strip the board, it should be around $100-150 for the reflow.

Having trouble with a sony vaio vgc-rb50 pci driver. I looked at the solutions below, but whenever I run the setup it says its installed, however the prompts in device manager remain the same..

From with in device manager right click on the driver and click uninstall and then without reboot try to install new one. make sure it is compatible with the OS ie. 64bit vs 32 bit. If it is vista 64bit good luck. :-)
