Question about Toshiba MD20H63 TV
I have a Toshiba television, model number MD20H63that on Monday just stopped turning on. When I press the power button, whether it is on the tv itself or on the remote, the power light willturn and it will make a noise but then after about 1 or 2 seconds itjust shuts off. I tried removing the cable cord and then putting it back and that did not help. I also moved the plug that the tv was originally plugged into and that also did not work.
SOURCE: Toshiba 32A32 won't turn on
just fixed one with that problem it was the vertical output ic Q301
that was shorted. try wicking it out. it is a LA7833S.
Postings say to be sure to use the Toshiba part

If the remote is the original Toshiba remote, it obviously should work the TV. Have you checked to make sure it has good batteries? Also, if old batteries leaked in it at any time there may be corrosion on the battery contacts keeping it from working. Make sure the metal contacts look shiny, not crusty and corroded.
If the remote still doesn't work there are two possibilities. One is that the remote is just bad. You can get a universal remote, set it for Toshiba and try it. It will at least control power, channel and volume functions. If the universal remote doesn't work, the remote sensor in the TV would be the probable cause. Like any other part, they can sometimes fail.
