Chevy Malibu 2003 cranks but won't start! I know

I replaced the knock sensor, crank sensor, fuel filter, pressure regulator.. Clean the idle air control valve aswell nd nothing! The first symptoms that I saw was the rpm gauge immediately went to zero.. Nd stayed while I was accelerating, it's been there ever since. The car turns on every second time I turn the key over but once the engine is warm, it only cranks until engine is cooler then turns on. I know it's electronic but can't find what it is.. The engine sounds like it's in need of a lil more gas..

Have the IGN module in the distributer checked. Orillys has a machine that will check it you must remove it and take it to them..

You might have a defective fuel tank pressure sensor!

SOURCE: 2003 Malibu won't start

If the theft light is not on, then it's not related to the security lock-out. This is classic fuel pump failure. If you don't hear the 2 second hum of the fuel pump when you turn the key, it has failed. If you hear it and you still have NO gas to the engine, it could be debris in the strainer or a severely clogged filter.

If you haven't done so already, have the cam and crank shaft position sensors checked, or replaced, You have replaced everything else.

My truck did this after I replaced the fuel pump. Turned out to Fuel Pressure Regulator. It would crank and crank but never start. It's located underneath the black plastic manifold on the side of the injectors.

I had the same problem-my check engine kept coming up with crank sensor(replaced several times- the car would run for 2 days then stall again)finally checked and replaced the wiring harness and the car ran great for awhile. Now I have a whole new problem(abs lights started coming on and the gauges all died while driving at which point the car just stopped and woulkd not restart)thinking alternator(the battery works great in another car)

1997 chevy malibu wont start when hot

It sounds like a coil problem or its vapor locking when it quits again pour cold water on the fuel line and the fuel pump to cool both if your car starts you have found the problem if it won't start try replacing the coil

My 2003 chevy malibu cranks but wont start. battery is good and altenator is good

To clarify - - if the engine cranks the battery and starter are ok.
The alternator does not come into play until the engine is running.
If it cranks but won't start, you have to figure out if you are missing fuel to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.
A mechanic would check that and if there are any trouble codes stored in the computer.

Turns over but won't fire

If a starter is able to crank the engine but it won't start you usually have either an electrical or fuel problem. It's also remotely possibly that it's compression. If an engine has proper fuel, spark and compression, it will start when you crank it. So your challange is to find out which part isn't working right. Start with fuel. Spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while someone tries to start the engine. If it starts briefly when you're spraying starting fluid, you probably have a fuel delivery problem. That could be injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, relay, fuse... who knows what until you check into it.If it doesn't start with starting fluid, check the spark. Pull a plug wire and attach it to a spare sparkplug and set the plug on a solid metal part of the engine. Have a helper crank the engine while you watch the plug. If you have a good spark, it might just be out of timing. In any case, you'll need to start isolating the problem. Find out which part isn't working then you'll know what to replace/repair.

I have a 1998 chevy malibu that will not start. i replaced thr starter and key switch still it will not start. found some fuses blown replaced them still will not start. (the fuses was starter related)need...

There is a starter relay in the vehicle and it is normally located under teh hood, in the power distribution box which is usually drivers side. When you say it won't start, do you mean it will not crank or it will not start. If the motor is turning over but not firing the problem is not the starter and is most likely fuel related. If it is cranking and will not fire, do a compression check on the motor. If you have zero compression on one or more cylinders then the problem is most likely a broken timing chain or belt. If compression is good and it is cranking over then you need to check the connections to the Distributor and the Crank and Cam position sensors.

starting fluid is a thing of the past. dont use it. this car doesnt have a carb, its a throttle body/ electronic fuel injection system. you most likely have a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator issue. test the fuel pressure, should be anywheres from 35-50 psi

Replaced fuel pump but it won't start it will crank but it won't start

when you have your hood up in the air can you hear the starter trying to make a clicking sound or no sound at all with the starter ? Starters also go bad too and some times it is intermitten some times as well. You can use a multimeter if you know how to use one that you can use one to test the starter red hot plug from the battery to it.

no the starter only cranks the motor if it is cranking the motor over its good . you might have bad gas with water in it , a clogged fuel filter , bad fuel pump , check if you have fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge , check if you have spark at the plugs then reply findings on this post hope this helps
