How do I get the lid off my wd640? It has just stopped working.
I accidently poured hand wash in the draw, and far too much of it. The machine just gave up washing and now I think a fuse might have blown or some thing... please help me fix it if I can, and I will never be so stupid again! N x

No point in removing top cover, try changing the fuse, if it still does not go, try it in another socket, if it lights up,and still does not work, then you are going to have to call an sngineer.

posted 3 years ago appliancextrnormally pump filter is the best place to start it could be jamed with a coin or hair clip if you take machine outside and empty it then lay it on its side you can access the pump take it off then stand up the machine and pour hotwater into the soap draw check water should run out of bottom freely taking any fluff or bits with it now take apart the pump and clean it all out dry all components before reasembly if the machine still doesent wory could need a new pump
if your machine is failing to start after closing the lid your should check the door catch
at the bottom right front of the machine there is a 3 inch plastic cover , remove this cover to revial a 2 inch circular scew/disc . this is the filter unit , I removed this screw / filter (make sure you are outside or a place with good drainage as this will drain all the liquid from the washing machine) to find a piece of elastic which was impeeping the function of the draining impellar .I removed the elastis then poured water through the compartment for the washing powder to make sure there was no further objects . I replaced the cleaned filtrer unit . this seems to have fixed my problem. good luck
slaven2008auI have a Hair Washing Machine, everytime I started my load it would beep and flash E2 in digital screen, I just played around with the lid, applying pressure on the right bottom side and it started to work - when I let go of the pressure it went back to beeping, so Im gathering it is the lid, so far I have something heavy sitting on the left hand side of lid - this will work until I can get it fixed.olution 3
There is a magnet in the lid on the side that needs to connect to the sensor within the machine, it could be that your magnet has come away or dislodged, worst case is to puchase a strong enough magnet to glue on or to replace the lid.
The pressure setting on your pressure switch has went out of calibration causing the machine to overfill. If you take the lid off by removing the 2 screws at the rear and sliding it back the pressure switch is underneath on the left. Try unscrewing the larger screw in the middle anti-clockwise 1 full turn i.e. 360 degrees and try a wash. If it still does it the try 1 more turn. If it still happens then you will need to replace the switch. Hope this helps.
BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC ON LID CAUSING MACHINE TO THINK LID IS OPEN ALL THE TIME. REMOVE LID, WEDGE BROKEN UP SATAY STICK INTO GAP, REPACE LID AND VOILA!! WASHING MACHINE SPINS AND ALL FOR LESS THAN 15 MINUTES WORK AND A STICK!
I have a similar problem - washer wouldn't spin or drain. The problem with my Kenmore 90 series is that the lid switch needs to be replaced. It's a safety feature. During normal operation when the washer is spinning or draining - and you open the lid - the lid switch sensor knows that the lid is opened and then "stops" the machine. A new lid switch needs to be installed. I have picked up the part, but am still trying to figure out "how" to get inside of the washer. The only difference between what you describe, and my problem, is that there is no "unusual" noise coming from the machine. Hope this helps lead you in a good direction. Another good site is Bob Villa's site.
there r 2 ways to get the door open 1)use a normal knife and place in front of the door handle push it in and it should open 2)pull the plug out take the lid off now place your hand down to where the catch goes into the washer using your fingers u should be able to pop it open with a bit off fiddling
This video will show you how to keep your soap draw clear
and how to service the parts

Angie, pull the drawer all the way out and see if you have a lid seal blocking the inlet tube. There should be a releasing tab in the back. Just take your finger and feel where the fill port is. I have found many bottle lid seals blocking this fill port. Catriver..post back.
