Dell LCD monitor quickly goes sleep, on, off over and over
Last week I after my computer was "asleep" for awhile I went to "wake" it up. My computer woke up fine but the monitor went off, sleep, on (the power button shows no color (off), orange, then green, then off again) over and over very quickly and didn't stop. I unplugged the monitor for a little while and tried again. Same thing. I left it unplugged over night and it worked the next day.
A week later this happened again. Only this time after leaving it unplugged for the night it still is doing this when I plug it in.
Re: Dell LCD monitor quickly goes sleep, on, off over and...
I would recommend that you try it on another computer to see if you are able to reproduce the results. If that is the case you should look at any new drivers, software or updates that have been installed. If the issue continues with another PC, it sounds as though the monitor's power supply is possibly failing. in that case I would suggest you simply replace the whole monitor. Unless you are not shy with a soldering iron. ;) good luck!
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This problem should not be only with your monitor, but also with your video card. You might have left one image sitting for long hours. There is no specific solution, but for Lcd users, you can try this. Leave the monitor off for few hours without any connection, maybe power chord or vga/dvi/hdmi cable. If this doesn't fix then the problem must be from your video card. You can try the monitor on another system to make sure, which one is the culprit. Your last choice is to reset the bios, to do this, remove the bios battery and leave it for few minutes outside (2 mins will do) and put it back. Reboot your system, this will fix your problem. Good luck. Thanks for using FixYa.

Try holding down the fn and f8 keys or if your problem is you cannot wake from power saving mode (after
your PC goes to sleep, then its probably just the driver for your video
card). VISTA has some issues with certain drivers that the PC cannot
wake from sleep
Pls check the power management properties in device manager to check if the option to wake the computer from sleep for the keyboard and mouse are enabled.
You may also try to change the power plan or create a new power plan and check if you are able to wake the computer from sleep.
If this problem started a few days back, then you may try to do a system restore.
If only the monitor is going to sleep, then it could be a problem with the connection from the monitor to the computer or with the cable.
If the computer goes to sleep and if you are not able to wake it from sleep then check the sleep mode settings and also the power management settings for the keyboard and mouse.
You may also do a system restore if you are not able to wake the computer from sleep.
