aj6404: what you described is what I understand to be referred to as an overload protection fault circuit kicking in. Sounds like you might have a fuse blown. Check the fuses on the PCB's. Unplug the power cable from the wall and allow it to sit for about 30 minutes before removing the back cover - till will allow the circuits to discharge before you go poking around - don't want to get shocked or popped by an arch.

Power problem (switches to standby)

its the problem of the ics on the main power supply board

Do the IC heat sinks get warm??

If they do not, check fuses F852 - 2AMP, F853 - 1.25AMP, F850 & F851 - ALL 5AMP on the power deflection pcb. THESE ARE NOT GLASS FUSES. They are usually about the size of a 1 watt resistor and either green or orange in color. They are soldered in. The nomenclature is printed on the component side of the board. They are all about centered on the opposite edge of the PCB as the high voltage transformer.

If you have cleaned up the mess you describe you most likely have one of these fuses blown.

if dont have any technical knowledge its advisable to call a technician as it is worth getting it fixed.

thanks.

ICS

i'm guessing your talkin about convergance ic's. if so they are located on the biggest heat sync in the set. should be two ic's on it, enless it is one huge ic's.
The fuses are usually located at the back of the set usually next to a small transformer. they are usually not glass fuses but solid green small and they are soldered in the board. you can check them with any ohm meter and they should check shorted. your meter should read 0 when you test them.
you may have to hold your meter on the fuse for up to 10 seconds to make sure it stays on 0.
the ic's are flat and sit up vertically on the heat sync.
if your confused and dont want to try it, then i would recomend you get a local service center to do it for you.

Pioneer sd-533hd5 not turn on

Theres 3 boards on the bottom inside of tv. The middle circuit board has 3 small fuses toward the center of the board. Just pop those fuses out and look for the 1 that is broken or burnt. Taken the bad fuse to radio shack and get replacement. Very easy repair.
