Using the Self Cleaning always breaks ovens. We see it here all the time. It superheats the oven to 700' and overheats electronics, breaks door switches/locks and burns out elements and fans. It could also be sensor related.
You need a service call from someone who has experience with that model. Control boards and touchscreens are expensive to replace on a hunch.
You can't unfortunately. It sounds like the control board is starting to fail. I would suggest having it repaired before it completely fails. Therepairshack.com offers a service that can fix this for you.
Without your model number this is an outright guess. Press menu, enter then settings until you see sound display then use the UP arrow to increase the volume and press enter again to save the settings. If you want a better answer I need your model number to better help you change the volume.
Pressing the "-" button on the control panel will cycle through the 3 or 4 available beep tones / volumes. No need to press any other buttons during or before this process.
Shame Hotpoint didn't see fit to put this in the manual. We dicovered it by mistake!
Usually, the F1 means that either the touch pad or the oven control (also called
clock or ERC) is defective and needs to be replaced. If this fault code
cannot be canceled, replace the oven control (also called clock or ERC),
touch pad, or both.
I believe this is because it takes a while for your oven to cool down (the cleaning cycle uses a very high temperature to burn up the grease and food). The timer is how long it takes before it will be cool, at which time the oven will unlock.
