Question about Sanyo CLT2054 20 in. EDTV-Ready LCD Television

Open Question

Flickering tv We have a Sanyo CLT2054 lcd tv. We have had the tv for 2 + years. Just recently when we first turn on the tv it starts to flicker and after a few moments it stops flickering and the picture is fine. This happens every time we turn on the set and the flickering is starting to last a little longer every time we turn the tv on. I have done some research and some one said that it is a fuse, could this be right? If so is it something worth having fixed? Thanks for your help Donco17@aol.com

SOURCE: sanyo lcd tv flat

I have researched this problem and it is so common we that own this piece of junk ought to form a class action suit and sue. It is caused by a bad part or bad connections to a part called a backlight inverter. It seems the LCD needs a higher voltage than supplied by the 12vdc power pack so this part re-chops the DC voltage to generate the LCD requirement.

The date of manufacture is on the back of these TVs and all the problems seem to be from those made in 2006 to 2008

SOURCE: SANYO CLT2054 WITH FADING SCREEN

I found an AC adapter for the Sanyo CLT2054 that works GREAT!!
The ebay dealer is cenyglobal, specify "Sanyo-Right-4Pin-12V5A"
AC Adapter. The CLT2054 TV has "2" different power plug hookups.
When you look at the 4-pin connector with the flat side UP,
for my TV, 12V is on the RIGHT 2 pins. On the other versions
12V is on the TOP 2 pins.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!

Have not repaired this TV. But experience tells me you have a weak power supply. Someone will need to rework this power supply. It may just need a few capacitors replaced and that may be the fix! Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Have a Sanyo CLT2054 Have flickering picture looks like a strobe; sound is fine

Sanyo CLT 2054 flickering problem is a power supply issue. You don't need to replace it if you can desolder, and solder. Break the case apart that is connected to the ac power cord. Remove the aluminum cover from the DC out end of the PCB. Unsolder, and replace capacitors C9 & C12 (1000mf 16v). Super glue the case back together, and watch TV. Good Luck...............Don't use cheap capacitors use caps that have a low ESR.

I HAVE A SANYO CLT2054. THE SCREEN IS FADING. WHAT PART DOES IT NEED AND IS THE PART EASY TO REPLACE. OR SHOULD I JUST GET A NEW HD?

Most problems can be solved by replacing the power suppy. Try this first before you pay an outrageous price to fix it, I've had to repair 12 tv's that had problems from fading to flickering pictures. This most always indicates a power supply problem

Flickering tv

Hello,

Fuses in the power supply are either good or bad and no in between. They will open under a shorted component in the TV no matter if it is in the supply or other sections of the TV, They just protect a circuit from further damage should a short happen. To me, your flickering of the screen could be due to a "cold solder joint" on one of the circuit boards and this is a common problem as the boards are "wave soldered" at the time of manufacture and sometimes the solder joints on a circuit board are so thin or not complete and in time the solder joint on a part that gets rather warm will come undone with heat or cold. Point is; this will require getting inside the TV and looking at the solder side of each board with a good magnifying glass to spot this. First thing in any electronic repair is a "visual inspection" and no way around it. Another thing that can go bad, is some of the circuit boards are connected together by small plug in cables with small connectors on the end. You then could simply unplug each cable one at a time and then reseat the connection and if your really lucky this will find and cure the intermit problems with the flicker. Do not get inside the TV with the power cord still plugged in should you decide to try this out. There are many other things such as a part on a circuit board that is going bad and this is where you will need an experienced TV repairman that knows how to fix your brand and model of TV. Sorry, but fixing TV's and not being able to be there to observe the problem is hard to help from this end. Good luck, Dennis

Sanyo CLT2054 compatibility w/inverter power.

you can use the inverter, however you may want to filter the AC input to the adapter, I made my own adapter for use when camping and no longer use the AC Adapter supplied.... With the inverter, you may have fading and flickering problems in the long run. Contact me for more information

I have a CLT2054 but i missed the power cable

I bought one on Ebay and it didn't work because the one they sale on Ebay has a reverse polarity, try fixing this, cut the output wire, the one leading to your TV, then reverse the connection, white to un-shielded wire and do the same on the remaining wire.
