Unable to scan to HP Office Jet Pro L7680 All in One

I have a L7680 that is connected to a network, it prints fine and is recognized, however, when trying to scan, it is not recognized and in the HP Support Center is listed as disconnected. If trying to scan from the front panel, the scan to a memory device and scan and reprint work, but scan to computer does not. What is the issue?

Yes had the same problem and the only way I could rectify this was to do a factory reset on the printer. The down side was all settings lost and printer went and done alignment which seems to take an age to do.

Can't scan from the pc or from the front panel, but the camera wizard scans via WIA. This happened since I downloaded from HP the Firmware upgrade dated July 2008. When trying to scan this error appear "An Error Occurred Communicating with the Scanning Device. Please Ensure that the Scanning Device is Connected Properly & Try Again". All HP support troubleshooting didn't resolve the problem. Warranty is up in 30 days, purchased 12/28/07

It is more difficult to scan using this AIO than using the 7310. The directions are not clear at all, and it seems like all of these companies work on the assumption that every buyer is a computer geek. It is very frustrating. J. Cehlar

My printer works when selected as a local and even as a local shared where we can all scan. But when we set as network printer, it won't scan to any of our computers and keeps referring us to device documentation to troubleshoot. None of us know where that documentation is. Since so many people have this problem, and since the questions go back several months, why isn't HP monitoring this FixYa site. The only solution offered was to obtain a different piece of software.

How can we get this problem resolved?

  • Localkin Feb 09, 2009

This is a second new printer, first one got fried. It was professionally installed. Had another "pro" come and was told that the printer was defective due to power surge. We do have a Cyber Power Surge box but the printer still got fried. Computer is OK. He removed the HP software due to concerns. Reinstalled using the printer not connected option. Customer will finish set up. We did, and tested the printer by it self and it worked. Then tried to copy from computer, but no good. Computer informs files needed.

I had the exact same problem.

Go to the HP website here: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html

Enter your printer model # and select "Download Drivers and Software"

Select which operating system you are using, eg: Windows XP, Windows 7... etc.

Then select the basic Print and Scan Driver and download it.

It may take a while to download, but it should do the trick.

I have HP Office Jet L7680 All-in-one printer, for unknown reason it keeps printing the "mirror image" of a document I'm trying to print

Try this...
Go to <Start> <Printers> Right click on your printer and select properties. On the "advanced" tab uncheck "Print Mirror Image". I know the path works for other printers, but I can't validate it for you that model.

I have an hp officejet pro l7600

I have an OJ l7600, and the colored ink cartridges pod out on their holdings rendering the printer inoperable. I have tried replacing the cartridges, even though there was ink still available. Even with new cartridges this still happens. What gives?

Why does my hp office jet pro L7680 tell me unknown device when i insert a sandisk 8 gb thumb drive to scan to???

It doesn't recognize the format. Often the drive manufacturers put proprietary software in the drives that interferes with other devices reading it. Go to the sandisk website and follow the removal procedure.

HP 7590 office jet pro scanner does not communicate

Hello,

The scanner function is not available when you are connected wireless, you must be connected via USB to your PC for the scanner to function correctly.

Started to print in reverse

Check the printer preferences for the "Mirror Image" option and un-check it - this is used for printing Iron-on transfers for T-Shirts.
I hope that solves your Problem, If so kindly accept it.
Thank You, Arjun.
