Emachine w3107 starts up just hear fan and nothing comes on the monitor

Test all power and data leads that attach to your hard drive IDE,SATA

the leads from your (motherboard to your hard drive) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

if its a 40 pin flat ribbon type it will be the first to fail

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty

even something as small as a faulty electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems

computers need all power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

hope this helps

Emachine EL1852 keep on restarting

Hi,
Does it load operating system fully before restarting? If it does, run a full scan of the drive with an updated anti-virus.
If not,do a reboot[enslave] of your hard disk from another computer. This is how to:-
Remove the hard disk from your machine.
Disconnect CD/DVD ROM from machine 2 and connect your hard drive.
Start the machine.'You're trying to run Unix' alert comes on, press f1[ save changes].
A disk check operation starts. This repairs the operating system on your hard disk.
After successful loading operating system of machine2,turn it off and remove your drive.
Fix it on your machine and start it.

Hope this helps.Thanks!

I'm trying to reboot my e-machines w3107 to it's factory settings, and i had no luck, i lost the recovery cd, what can i do?

The E-Machines W3107 ships with Windows XP home edition. I will provide support for Windows XP. If you have upgraded to another version of Windows let me know in the comments section and I will provide further support.

The first thing you should do before performing any kind of system restore is to back up any important data on your computer. To do so, either save the files you need on disks, an external hard drive, or other storage device. If you need help with this, let me know.

Once you have everything you need backed up it is time to start the recovery process. Restart your computer (Start> Turn off computer> restart). Once your computer boots back up, remove all the disks from your disk drives (CD's, floppy disks, etc.), and unplug all devices connected to your computer except for your mouse, keyboard, and monitor. This includes your modem (if applicable) and printer.

After all disks and devices have been removed, open the start menu, go to "all programs," then find the "e-machines" folder. In that folder, click "eMachines Recovery Management" and select the "restore" tab at the top of that window.

More than likely you have not yet set a recovery password, so click the button that says "password settings." Follow the onscreen instructions to create a new password and click "ok." Once that's done, click "restore system to factory default."

You will then be prompted to enter the password you just created. Do so, click "ok," then click "next," then "finish." Your computer will then begin recovering.

Stay by your computer as it restarts and begins to install Windows again. This will take some time, but you need to stick around to follow the onscreen instructions for configuring windows.

Thanks for using Fixya! If you need anymore help, feel free to leave a comment in this thread and I will get back to you.

Accessing EMachines W3107 Recovery Partion

You can fix this virus without recovering.

Log in normally. Go to run, type in msconfig and go to the startup tab. Uncheck everything and reboot your pc. Once there try your internet. If it's not working go to Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings, and uncheck anything in your proxy settings. Close IE and reopen. You should be able to connect. Then download and run Malwarebytes, and then run Bitdefender Online scanner.

The only other thing that may be trouble is that there may be a rootkit that neither scanner will detect. You can run Combofix, but this program isn't for the average user. Follow instructions carefully when using Combofix.

Louder whirring noise when turning on computer

trumpjd,
Usually on startup the fans work a little harder then slow down. On newer computers they still have noticable fan noise. Most of what ou hear while the machine is running after start up is the power supply fan. When it starts to go bad you'll hear it all the time.

The ticking sounds like it could be your hard drive failed. The computer is not making any beeps or anything? just the ticking? If the pc is under warranty I would definetly handle it that way. If this is not the answer you are looking for please disregard.
Good luck,
Lee
