Not that it matters, but I just had a similiar problem with an RLP35. It would stay on only as long as you held the pilot button in. Did all of the checks and ultimately found that the problem was debris, maybe a spider web in the fuel tube. The flame before cleaning was not big enough to reach the thermocouple. After cleaning, the thing just purred. They offer the same advice for BBQ's each season to make sure you clean out the fuel tubes. Hope it helps--I have an extra thermocouple now if someone wants to buy it!!!!!!!!!!

Heater will run as long as the control valve is pressed.
According to DESA test these parts. NOTE: Not all heaters are equipped with
A relay.

Thermocouple
Turn off gas supply. Remove thermocouple
from gas valve. Using a digital
multi-meter set to the lowest DC millivolt
setting (meter needs to have alligator clips
on ends of leads), clip black lead to the
very tip of thermocouple (end removed
from valve). Clip red lead to the outer casing
of thermocouple for ground. Relight
unit output should be between 18 and 28
millivolts.
Relay
Turn off gas supply. Remove bottom of
base (if equipped). Relay is a normally
open circuit between terminals 4 and 6
which closes when current is supplied.
Using a digital multi-meter measure the
resistance. With no power to unit, resistance
between terminals 4 and 6 is open
circuit or no resistance. Apply power to
relay. Resistance between terminals 4 and
6 should be less than 100 mili ohms.

R100 reddy heater, low pressure forced air heater. the heater ignites, motor runs for 30 seconds then shuts down. photo cell good, filters clean, no ignition board, pump pressure unknown.

The R100 is a kerosene heater and the RLP100 is a propane heater so I am not sure when one you have.
If it is kerosene then you may need to check the pump pressure. Also the Safety swith can give you a cut out after 30 seconds.

If the unit is Propane then you could have a bad control board or a flame sensor.

Thanks

I lights when I hold the button down and goes off when I release it. It is a model for propane and says model 100,104,106,110. reddy heater

You need to hold the button down for 15 to 30 seconds before it will stay lit. If you are doing that, the thermocouple is bad. They are cheap and can be found at any hardware store.

Heater will not stay lite

Sounds as though your heater is a bit different than mune - I havwe no gas supply button, at least I don't think so. I just replaced my nozzle however at the recommedation of a recent contact to this site. It worked. The replacement packaging suggests annual replacement, so I think I was due - after ~12 years!

Reddy propane heater RLP100

Try a little longer, sometimes it takes a full minute to heat the thermocouple. Check and make sure thermocouple is in flame. If all this is ok. then your going to have to change the valve.

Reddy heater rlp 100

Sounds like the thermocouple is not working or the flame is not hitting the thermocouple. It may take 30 seconds of flame or longer to keep it on. Check for a loose connection at the gas valve.

Either a 30# or 110# tank of propane will work. You might even get by for a short period of time using a gas grill tank, depending upon how cold it is outside.
