Unable to open the dispenser tray

This option was pre-selected as "free" for solution. I also logged into the website for research on other users similar issues, attempted to post this similar problem, however, wording on the terms of use indicated a potential fee, therefore, didn't accept the terms and rerouted to this section.

Do you mean pull out the dispenser drawer so that you can remove it from the machine?

If you want to totally remove the drawer, press down on the indent in the BLUE plastic frame (behind the area where you put the fabric softener) and the drawer will come out of the compartment.

  • bpkaplan Nov 24, 2008

Sorry, I mean next to the LIQUID BLEACH dispenser. If you just want to open the drawer so that you can put in detergent, place your fingers under the drawer and gently pull forward. I hope this helps.

Dispenser stays in the drawer. I have cleaned the drawer within an inch of its life ! It seems the water coming from the machine into the dispenser is not getting through because if I manually pour water...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Please bear with me as the following I have pre-typed and I need to ensure that we are talking about the softener tray of the dispenser (?). If not the last paragraph should help identify if water IS being fed into each tray in the cycle- I've added a note in bold!

I hope you don't mind me saying so but often the softener dispensing siphon tube gets missed when cleaning the dispenser 'cos it's difficult to see!----------->
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

If this isn't the problem it could be that the water dispensing is not working correctly (pull the drawer out far enough to see in then select each part of the complete cycle in turn). It is easy to check by selecting (final?) rinse, pulling the drawer slightly out and seeing and hearing whether water is being fed into the softener tray. If is isn't then it is a call-out ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Softner doesn't dispense on every load.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
(I have pre-typed the following; I cannot type that fast!)

This is a common problem with many machines.
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean, paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD OR the water feed into the softener tray is not working properly. If the latter, follow these instructions and then clean the jets where the softener water is supposed to enter before calling for service;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube
but on others the cover is part of the tray's plastic top.

If this does not work, pull out the dispenser drawer far enough to be able to just see the softener tray, select the (final?) rinse and check that water is entering the tray. If it isn't there is a fault with the water distribution and an engineer call is required ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

We have an LG wm2032hs. During the washing cycle, the bleach is never dispensed from the tray. Are there any specific settings needed? Thanks Doug

I believe you may have put it in the second largest container (Usually marked by a bucket with a 1 in it), this is for Pre-wash. So you will have to select Pre-wash on the Facial panel. It will then take the bleach first and after washing with it, the machine will rinse and drain it away - and continue with the normal wash and whatever you may have also left in the detergent box.

Good Luck :-) - J.Q

* If you found this solution helpful, please vote positively. A 4 four thumbs up, and a testimonial will do nicely :-)

The washing powder is still in the dispenser at the end of the full wash??

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
See if the water is actually running into the washing powder tray by using these guidance notes (written for another problem!).
A quick and easy way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.
In a few cases I have come across, the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.
Now if the water is NOT pouring into the washing powder tray an engineer call is required ;-0(
Good luck,
John C

My dispenser door sticks. It only comes out about 1/2 inch and then you have to keep opening and closing it that little bit until it comes open all the way. Where is it sticking and how do I fix it?

with the dispenser fully opened, reach in the tray to the retaining clip at the top above the tray. depress clip and fully remove tray. rinse tray to remove dirt and detergent, and with a toothbrush scrub away at interior guide path. use a silicone based lubricant on side rails of the dispenser tray and reinsert, open and close till problem is solved, if problem persists repeat proceedure.

My daughter is living in Russia and has a compact Samsung washing machine. She can't work out where to put the fabric softener. When she put it in the tray she thought was the right one it spilled out...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Two answers, both pre-typed by me, the second is possibly the reason for the spillage ;-0)

1) Which tray.
A quick way to find out which tray is which is to pull the detergent drawer out just so that you can see into it. Start a pre-wash and see where the water runs in, then advance to the main wash and observe. Finally start a rinse cycle and where the water goes in is where the conditioner/softener goes.
In a few cases I have come across the pre-wash tray shares with the conditioner/softener part but the pre-wash powder goes in the front and the softener in the back.

2) Leaking detergent dispenser
This is a common problem with many machines.
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which is causing water to overflow from the dispenser drawer so it needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
One of these should enable you remove it
(I am having to guess some of the following!)
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.

Good luck to your daughter,

Brand new Cabrio washer model #WTW7300XW1 ---fabric softener dispenser fills with water after wash load.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is a note from the users manual that is important:
IMPORTANT: Fabric Softener option must be selected to ensure proper distribution at correct time in cycle. Do not overfill or dilute. Overfilling dispenser will cause fabric softener to immediately dispense into washer.

You have to select the fabric softener option with each cycle.
It is normal for small amounts of water to be remain in dispenser at the end of the cycle.

Feel free to call the Help line and make a phone inquiry Make aure to pass your model number to them.

The softener holder just fills with water but will not drain.

Is water left in the dispenser at the end of the cycle?
About two tablespoons of water remaining in the dispenser compartment at the end of the cycle is normal. At the end of the wash cycle, fresh water automatically cleans the dispenser. Check that the cycle is complete before opening the dispenser drawer.
Is the dispenser drawer clogged?
A clogged dispenser can block the flow of water through the dispenser and cause water to leak out. Manually remove the dispenser, and clean any leftover detergent or additives that could clog the flow of water through the dispenser. Also, check that the detergent drawer is always completely closed during the cycle. If the drawer is not closed completely, water can leak out onto the floor.
Are the additives dispensing too early?
Here are a few things that can cause the additives (detergent, fabric softener or liquid chlorine bleach) to dispense early:
  • Check that the dispenser is not overfilled. Do not fill past the MAX fill lines on the dispenser. Overfilling can cause early dispensing of liquid chlorine bleach and/or fabric softener.
  • Check that the detergent separator is in the correct position. For liquid detergent, the separator should be in the front position. For powdered detergent, the separator should be in the rear position. If the separator is in the rear position while you are using liquid detergent, it will dispense immediately, which is not how it is designed to work.
  • Use powdered HE detergent when using the DELAY WASH option. Liquid detergent may dispense prior to the start of wash.
Are the additives dispensing too late?
The additives will not dispense until the proper time if the DELAY WASH option is selected.

Soap dispenser stuck on LG WM2277HW

Great advice. I used a portion of you plan. Pulled off the top, but since the softener cup is on the right, I only uncliped the 3 clips on that side of the assembly. With those loose, I could pry gently up on the back portion of the assembly lid, and the drawer pulled out.

I also see no need for the cover, other than a measuring device. So removed the screws at the front, pushed the assembly back into the washer, and unclipped the rest of the lid. Once the lid of the tray assembly was off, it was easy to remove the softener cover. The only challenging part was getting the re-closed assembly to go back into the cut-out in the face metal. I got caught a couple times, but getting my hand up under the assemble allowed be to push evenly up on both sides as I pushed it forward into place.

Now the door works fine again. Seems to be a significant design flaw by LG.

Hope the helps other.
