Having a problem with my Motorola H710 ear...

By meterno on Nov 19, 2008

" "
reconnecting. I have a new MotorolaH710 bluetooth headset which I really like. I have it paired with my LGCU500 cell phone. Whenever I re-open the mic boom to turn it on, itsuccessfully re-connects with the phone (the phone make a dingingsound), but within two seconds, disconnects (another dinging sound),then it reconnects (ding), then disconnects (ding) and so on. This willcontinue unless I press the button on the side of the headset once ortwice. However, this same thing happens after I complete a call. Whenthe call is done and the line disconnects, so does the headset (ding). Then, within a moment it reconnects (another ding). This is extremelyannoying. What am I doing wrong? 1). Is this happening to anyone else?2). If so, is there a fix? Is there a known incompatibility with my LGCU500? Thanks for your help, Mike.

-   I love this headset. Everything works fine, with the exception of the # button. Whenever I hit the # button to check the office voicemail, the H710 disconnects from the phone and then reconnects. My LG phone is a few months old so I can't believe it's the phone. I make calls fine, I can answer them fine, I'm clear as a bell and can hear everything perfectly. It's just the # button and it's annoying me.-   GNIII

Your phone should work just fine with the H710. I;ve supplied hundreds of Motorola H710 headsets to corporate employees - every month or so a one or two of the headset are just bad. We send the employee a new headset and all is fine.

The only Bluetooth tech difference between your phone and the H710 is the Bluetooth version, the H710 is BT2.0 and your phone is BT1.2. If you want to be extra cautious and do a second test on the H710 - pair it with a friend's phone, I would make make sure the second phone is a BT2.0 phone CNET provides a nice list of BT 2.0 phones <--- see that link. If you find the same issues - call the company or return to the store and tell them you need to exchange the headset - if the HS works with the BT2.0 phone - test it with a 1.1 or 1.2 phone and see if that is the issue.

It looks like AT&T has the largest number of BT2.0 phones so you could even stop in an AT&T store and ask them if they would test your headset with an active phone if you can't find someone with one.

If you find the HS doesn't work with a 1.2 or 1.1 BT phone but the online store reports or someone at the retail store told you they were compatible I would ask for a refund.

Hit me back if you need any help. Good luck!
