How to replace power jack on NEC i-select M5210?

There is a risk of damage or even electrical shock from improper soldering or handling if you attempt the repair yourself. However, you might go to the maker's website and look for a link to "spare parts and accessories". See if you can order a new power socket with instructions on how to install it. Failing that, get a quote from a computer repair store to see how much it will cost. If expensive, consider replacing it with a new or refurbished laptop you can afford.

Hey, there any one plz give me idea about my problem with my laptop, last night i shut down my laptop properly and the next day evening it was not getting start, battry is ok and it is showing charging but...

Do you leave it plugged in a lot? I would try another Cord/charger with the EXACT same power specs. Never leave a Computer plugged in when not in use, it's subject to power surges, accidental damage, and shortens the life of the components, Cord/Charger, AC jack, etc.

How do you replace the power jack on a Acer 6930 laptop..

If you had waranty means make call to acer customer service and log the case and then service or replace freely.

Otherwise visit nearest acer service center and replace your power kack as chargeble base.

Just bought new qosmio , and simply wont turn on. Is there any trick or just need to use waranty. Is problem in adapter maybee? Regards, Kristian kraljic

If it's still under warranty, you are lucky, but you can still try if it's a small faulty. First disconnect the charger and Switch On with the battery installed. It it doesn't work, remove the battery and try power on with the Charger connected. Still nothing, then check whether it is charging or not (battery installed and charger connected), you'll see a light if it's charging. If nothing seems working, then you last option is the Warranty.
(do not open the case or any cover, it may void the warranty).

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Compaq Presario V3000 charger stopped working and now buzzes

Unfortunately there are no perfect cables, and especially in case of a laptop, when you move it around a lot, roll the cable for travel etc. it gets bent a lot, especially in the place where the elastic cable goes into the hard plug or into the charger case. The conductors inside and the inner insulation finally break, giving at first intermittent connection (what you experienced before), and finally short-circuits the cable, resulting in charger damage.

You should be fine just replacing the charger, unless all this wiggling around didn't break the laptop power socket.

When looking for a replacement charger, note the voltage of the original (it should be exactly the same in the new one), the maximum current amperage (this should be same or - better - higher than original), and the size of plug.

Good luck :)

Hp zd8000 laptop; new battery shows 100 percent charge, when I unplug power computer powers off and does not operate from the battery. Is there a setting that I need to set?

dear sir,
you didn't mention how long you are using this laptop, i mean that approxmite age of that laptop. problem you mentioned upper can happened for cause given below:-
1) if battery damaged.
2) if battery internal circuit out of order.
3) if battery internal one cell out of order.
open the battery case then if u have proper idea about AVO meter operation then u can check battery by measuring battery current (per cell) plz. then u can find out which battery is out of order, another think is u can check it by replacing saim battery unit.
thanks.

Sir,
It seems to me that your Processor of the Laptop has got effected to and unbalance current supply. As you know that replace processor would work i would suggest you to claim its waranty before replacing new processor.

Dell inspiron 6000 power supply shot...

There are no internal power supplies in laptops. What has most likely happened is as your laptop fell it either landed on the part of the power cord that was sticking out the back/side of the computer or the tension was so great on the plug from it falling that the power supply connector on the motherboard has broken loose from the motherboard. I have seen this happen a lot. This is not a job for an amatuer. It takes someone with knowledge of laptop repair and motherboard repair. In your best case scenarios either the little strip that contains the power button has popped loose and is not making contact (seen this happen in one case) or the power supply adapter (not part of the laptop) has been damaged and torn some wires. In the first case just try to push that power button strip down on the laptop first to see if it will snap back in place. If you can find someone else that has the same adapter you can ask to borrow theirs for a few minutes. Medium case scenario is that it has broken the solder loose and just needs to be resoldered or a new power plug soldered in. Worst case scenario is that it has cracked the motherboard, which will be expensive to fix (it would have to be replaced). Continuing to try and use it in this state (unless it is the best case scenario) will further damage the motherboard as the electricity will start jumping to places it should not go and eventually destroy the motherboard.
