Re: problem with the webcam
Have you downloaded and tried the Acer Camera driver 18.104.22.168 from the Acer website directly. I have the same laptop with Vista installed. Whenever I install Windows Vista on my laptop, I download the same driver and it works. You can try the other webcam drivers (Bison or Suyin) on the acer website as well. Hope this shouldnt be a problem and these drivers work 99% of the time.

I suggest to upgrade to Windows 7 instead of downgrading because Windows 7 has better performance than Vista. But if you still want to go to Windows XP you have 2 choices. The first is to format the drive where Vista is installed and to install fresh copy of Windows XP. Second choice is to install Windows XP as second OS and at the end of the installation, at activation step, you have to choose activation by Phone. Then you should call Microsoft Helpdesk and provide the code of your Windows XP to the operator and tell him that you need downgrading Vista code. Then he will guide you to the rest of the activation and the downgrade of Vista.
Just to make sure I understand the question, you want to install Windows XP on to your computer instead of Windows Vista? Yes you can install windows xp. If your computer came with windows vista you will need to buy windows xp with a COA or Certificate Of Authenticity. This is the code that comes with any Windows software that allows you to prove you have a real copy of windows.
It is Better do this : Instead of Updating the drivers, roll back the driver first and unintall the Hardware Totally from your system through the device manager. Next, restart your system, and then it prompts for 'New Hardware Found', use the Finger Printer Driver That you have, to re-install it afresh, if you dont have you can download it from here : http://www.getpcmemory.com/drivers/download-acer-aspire-5738-5738g-5738z-notebook-windows-xp-drivers/
After that, restart your system again. It should work like that now.
You Need To Boot From The XP CDrom...
Press Power Button To Boot, Hold Down F-12, Choose To Boot From CDROM, Go Through The Windows Setup Process, Remove Vista (delete it), then Format and Install XP...
Your 7520 can use the drivers from another acer model, for instance, try aspire 3000, or 5000 drivers.. or try another model...
If it's not the correct one, it will not install and throw up an error telling you it is incompatable and not going to install....

Greetings my name is Mark and i will be glad to assist you.
I've had many customers that did the same thing as you did. unfortunately you will find several problems with installing xp instead of Vista. One of the problems is xp becomes unstable do to the fact Acer made Vista proprietary to that computer. You can try re-installing xp through the recovery process. Remember when re-installing go through the process past the screen that prompts you to accept or F8 this will bring you to the format screen and you hit the "r" key for recovery.
I hope this helps.
Be mucho blessed,
