Question about Canon BJC S450 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Canon S450 In the middle of printing a number of documents, the printer stopped and the yellow light is blinking 6 times, then the green light comes on and then this repeats itself. I cannot locate a printer manual on line and did not receive one with the printer as it was given to me used. Another problem, I installed new color cartridges, but the only colors I get are blue & green. Thank you for any help you can give me.

From what I can tell the 6 orange lights indicate a print head failure. Why the print head has failed is another question maybe too old (I've read somewhere that they only operate for a fixed amount of time), maybe printed enough pages (somewhere else indicated that they only print a fixed number of pages). The solution is to replace the printhead (not just the ink tanks).

There is no way to know which print head needs replacing, so unless you have a spare one you will just have to choose which to change, and if you get it wrong try the other one. It appears to be an expensive way of solving the problem (but I have just found it cheaper to buy a print head which comes with 3 tanks than to buy 3 separate tanks!).

Blinking 5 times in orange means print head not detected by the printer. You may try following procedure: remove and reinstall the print head. If the problem not solve find good print head to compare. More information please check below link

The printer will not print.

I did what Andy told me to do and the printer started working. However, what I realy wanted to know was if the problem was in the printer or in the computer and I did find that out so that I will soon buy a new Printer.

I have a canon i9900 printer. I am getting 5 yellow flahes and 1 green. Any suggestions?

1) With the printer powered off, hold down the resume button and press the power button.

2) While holding down the power button, release the resume button and press the resume button twice in succession. Now release the power
button. The indicator will blink in green and remain lit in green.

3) Press resume 4 times (Green) for Waste ink counter reset.

4) Press the power button. The printer will switch itself off after performing the function.

Or try

1) Power off printer
2) Hold RESUME button then press and hold POWER. (The beeper MAY sound once, or may not depending on your model.)
3) Hold POWER and Release RESUME.
4) Press RESUME twice then release both POWER and RESUME buttons.
5) When the indicator lights steady, press RESUME 4 times (for the S900, 3 times for the 8200 apparently).
6) Press power to set data.
7) Print away!

G'Day Dennis,
OK try turning off printer at power point and leave for 10 to 15 minutes before starting again then try this reset proceedure again.
If it doesn't work, a new printer might be cheaper than taking yours for service, but if you use compatible inks, the price differance for cartridges might make a repair worthwhile.
