Question about ViewSonic VA2012WB Monitor

Viewsonic monitor VA2012wb is reading ''out of range''

I am just building a new system and trying to use my old monitor. I apparently set the resolution beyond the monitor's capability and now it reads "out of range" ... no picture. I have a MSI K9N2 Platinum M/B with an AMD Phenom x4 9850 CPU. I am running off the motherboard's DVI link. I have an EVGA 8600 pci-e vid card but, I cannot visualize the BIOS CMOS menus to set the board to use that slot. What can I do to restore my video ????? HELP !!!!!!

No other monitors available and it's 2 a.m. It would seem I need another kick-*** monitor with super resolution beyond 1900x1200 to be sure what the settings are.

Restart the computer and as it is booting up, tap the F8 key on your keyboard. Choose the VGA mode to lower the resolution for the video card. This will allow you to get in and slowly up the resolution.

You need to set your PC to the native resolution of the monitor, if it is too high, you will get out off range message: native resolution is 1920x1080p @60Hz.

Causes of OSD LOCK
1. The monitor is incompartible with the system unit, especially for newer version units versus older monitors
2.Older monitors display attempting to much up to the improved definition functions of newer system units display an operating system malfunction, interpreted as monitor malfunction instead. OPERATING SYSTEM DISPLAY MALFUNCTION

Upon powering up, a banner flashes OUT OF RANGE. What is the fix?

The maximum/native resolution for this display is 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz, you need to adjust your PC video resolution, it is too high right now for the Viewsonic to work. Hook up your old monitor and set the new resolution, otherwise bootup in safe mode (hit f8 key while booting up) and choose VGA support, set the new resolution, reboot.

Turn on computer and va2012wb comes on for 2 sec then go to blank screen but if i turn off monitor and when turn it back on it come on again for 2 sec. help

Most case will be bad capacitors in the power supply, that will be the first place to check, worst case will be the lamps. See example what goes bad in LCD monitors:

Can't set 1680x1050 resolution on viewsonic monitor

I found the solution for my problem.
Initially I thought it's a monitor problem and was trying to find the drivers for it.
The problems is not with my monitor but with the video adapter I use.

My video adapter has a intel chipset (Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family). Apparently the driver that I was using was quite old.

The only thing I had to do is:
1. Download the latest video adapter driver
2. Uninstall the current video adapter driver
3. Restart the system (Windows XP)
4. Install the new driver.
5. Restart the system.
