When you said "Monitor", does it means internal LCD screen or external monitor?
Have you checked the "Power Options" in the "Control Panel"?

Black screen after updating the bios

Thank you for the detailed explanation, it's really helpful in finding a solution.

It's a little bit of a tricky situation. If the BIOS didn't give a confirmation that was updated successfully, it is possible that it failed.

There are two things that you can try:

1. In case only part of the bios updated successfully, it is possible to still being able to read a BIOS update from USB.

2. Just in case, plug it in an external monitor and try to turn it on.

If it turns out the BIOS is indeed bricked, then you will need to bring it to Toshiba Customer Service.

Blank screen after monitor sleep just blue flashing light

First of all you can change the Power Settings in Control Panel. You can configure as you need. I mean after how much wait it should go for sleep n all.

If it takes 5 min. to wakeup that means you have so many applications running that system cannot manage or RAM is small.

The final solution just remove the Display drivers and reinstall it.

After removing please restart the system once to proceed further

Screen goes black on my hp pavilion dv4000 notebook

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor first then boot up the laptop. The video data will switch to the monitor automatically, check if the monitor dislays a normal image and see if the image stays on the monitor.
Also press and hold the Fn key and press the F4 key, these keys toggle the video output between the LCD screen and the video port.
Test to see if this functions correctly.
Get back to me with the results of the tests.

My hp goes to sleep alot???

1. Right Click your desktop and click properties
2. On properties window click the screen saver tab. Beneath it, click the power button.
3. On the Power Schemes, you can either select the Home/Office Desk or Always On option
4. For the other options below, select NEVER for all of them and click apply.

5. go to the Hibernate Tab and take off hibernate and also click the apply button

Restart your PC and watch out if the problem still persists.

if it dos then you need to download a new Power Management driver or ACPI from HP's website.

If it comes to this pls let us know so we can assist.

Monitor went to sleep and won't wake up

It sounds like a driver issue, but more likely the monitor driver, not the video card, since the other monitor works properly.
If you go into the video properties, check the monitor settings. You should be able to switch it to a generic monitor. You also need to make sure that you have the correct monitor refresh frequency set. If you have a mis-match, the video card could send signals at a rate the monitor can;t handle, which is why it won't "wake" even after a reboot and might need to be unplugeed to get it to come back on.
