This could be that your cable has been tampered with and pulled and it tends to stop working or you dont have it on the right channel.

I think this issue is common among PS2, fixing it might cost you more than actually picking up one that is used from eBay. if you do want to try fixing it yourself you can try looking at some homemade YouTube videos, however it's not guaranteed that your problem would be exactly the same as displayed in the videos.

Ps3 only displays in 1080i


I have similar problem , ps3 320gb + 5 years old sony bravia 1080p = everything OK
but when i connect ps3 to new samsung ue46d7000 1080p = doesn't work (only 1080i)
I am using same HDMI cable

How do I fix scratch marks on my Playstation 2 console !


like on the plastic? or on the inside or something? how did it get scratched? does it effect the functionability of the playstation 2?

When i turn on the console it comes on and then nothing happens on screen. Once switched on it can not be turned off unless i flick the switch at the back. Its as if its crashing when its put on?? plz help...

If you are getting this error it is called the no display error.

Cause:

The reason that it happens is because the GPU which deals with all of your graphics has overheated. You just need to stop the heat build up in order to make it work again.

Solution:

The first way you can fix the No Display Error is by sending it in but bear in mind for this problem there is a $150 charge for the repair which is pretty steep!

Alternative Solution That Is Faster:

If you want to get the problem fixed EVEN FASTER than the option for you is a good PS3 Repair Guide.

My playstation 3 it wont show the picture it just shows a black screen

Follow the procedure below to fix the problem on your ps3,

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
