LCD monitor turns off after 2 seconds from boot

Iam having dell lcd monitor[sp2208wfp22"]. It started to flicker few days before. but it is now going blank after booting. power is ok. system is booting properly. If i turn off the monitor and turn it on again, i can see the back ground process(boot, windos load and running) for 1 second. again it goes to blank.

Not the power cord problem at this point, more likely to have failed Power supply or Inverter board.
http://lcdrepair.us/2007fpw-power.html
http://lcdrepair.us/2007fp-inverter.html

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, blown fuses, poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed DELL monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

My computer screen flickers when you start it up what could it be

It is normal to flicker if the computer is turned on (on a cold boot), but there could be a problem on it if it keeps on flickering inside the operating system.

You don't have a short-circuit. That would have blown the protections or even the monitor. Refer to the manual, that flashing light may be a code that tells you the problem. I don't think the repair would be expensive...

Syncmaster 226CW showing picture only for a second + flickering

Hello,

Call and get the RMA for your monitor, the problem is in the power supply and it will only get worse. This is a common problem with LCD monitors after 2-3 years of use.

Dell inspiron does not boot up

Do you see anything on screen? Dell logo? I will assume you see nothing. Not even a Dell logo.

First test your power supply with a meter to be sure it is putting out 18-19 volts. If good, remove the laptop battery and try again. The next tests should be done with the battery not connected to the laptop.

Remove the hard drive and see if it boots. If not, next remove the dvd drive from the laptop and try to boot. If no good, remove the ram, clean the contacts on the ram and the slot with a pink pencil eraser....gently, just make them shiny. Try to boot with no ram/hdd/dvd. Put the ram back in and try again. Try connecting the laptop to an external monitor.

If after all this you still cannot get a Dell logo at boot time, the mainboard is likely dead. A refurbished one (with only 90 day warranty) will probably cost you at least $250 from Dell. Please let this one go and look at a new laptop.....sorry.

Hope this helps :)

The backlight or inverter is going out on your screen.
Eventually it will just stay dark. You will need to replace one of the two if plan on keeping monitor.

Flashing on and off

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
