This kind of problem occur mostly due to virus problem. If you have any anti-virus than kindly scan the system properly and do the boot scan if you have native boot scan option in your antivirus. and if you do not have anti-virus than Format is the best option always at last.

Make sure you left click on the USB icon (green arrow) on the lower right of the screen (system tray) and choose to Safely Remove the Drive Device, BEFORE you pull the cable or turn it off. The system may still be writing files from cache and you could loose the last files written.

Dropped hp pavilion dv6707 now won't start up

If you dropped it when the computer was running, you probably crashed your hard drive. If this is the case, you will be buying a new hard drive and reinstalling everything.
If nothing happens when you start it, open it up and make sure all the connections are secure. You could have a loose wire. If you test all connections, then disconnect everything but the CPU, memory, power supply and video card. Then try to start it. If it's the hard drive that is the problem and it is disconnected, then you should get a message on the screen that there is no boot device or words to that effect. If you get that, turn off the computer, reconnect the hard drive and try again.

I installed a new mother board and a new Hard disk. I am not able to boot from the Operating system CD even though I made CD to be first on the boot sequence. I had formatted C drive completely.

Turn off youa PC and unplug it from the power & disconnect the keyboard too for 30 seconds and then connect it all again so the computer find as default, or do to bios settings to load all devices as default.

REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELE

1, to open your cd drive manually, get a tooth pick, look closely onto your cd drive i mean where the cd comes out from when ejected, you will see a very tiny hole put the tooth pick inside the hole push it in a bit hard then bring out if it does not try a tinier object it will come out.

2, if the system was on when u disconnected the belt it might have burnt the hdd or has caused error on the hdd, off the computer and reboot if no solution, reformatt the system if it does not work, get a new hdd. thanks

External Hard drive Disconnect Problem

Windows rarely wants to let my drives go either.
I assume it is the active virus inspection program scanning, or possibly google desktop indexing the drive.
So long as files are written to the disk (the copy is finished), you should be fine - I have never corrupted a disk by unplugging - if in doubt you can let it sit for an extra 30 seconds or so after a copy is finished before disconnecting.
After all, USB is hot-pluggable (can be connected / disconnected while turned on.

Computer seems to be restarting endlessly

Its seems any one of the key of your got stuck. So please check out your keyboard first.

If problem still not fixed then, try to re-install your RAM: remove the RAM clean its connection point to the board, and placed it agin gently. then try to re-boot.

Please let me know your feed back.

Thanks

Corrupt drive

Hi Whisky300,
If you connected the drive after the updates, you may want to manually update and select "Custom" rather than "Express" at the Microsoft update site (with your USB Hard Drive attached), The custom installation will allow you to view and select additional hardware and software updates that the express option won't, and may very well pick up your USB hard drive.
If the above has been tried already or doesn't help, you can give this link a try: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/cust_alp.php?prod_lvl1=3&prod_lvl2=34&p_prods=3,34&cat_lvl1=50&p_cats=50&p_pv=2.34&p_cv=1.50&p_sid=A52CRS-i
It's an Iomega support and download page for Firewire/USB hard drives.
Good luck.
