JVC KW-AVX815 Player USB Source does not recognize 2.5'' HD
When connecting the portable 2.5" HD to the USB source, error showing not able to read device. Verified with USB thumb drive and it works perfectly. Any firmware update needed for the player set to recognize portable HD ??? Has it got to do with HD driver missing ???? Hope to have the portable HD connected so that I can enjoy the storage capacity for videos & music. With USB thumb drive, limited video files can be stored. Appreciate yoru kind advice and solution for my problem.
Re: JVC KW-AVX815 Player USB Source does not recognize...
How big is the Hard drive? the unit might not have enough storage space on board for the part table. when you plug in the drive the head unit loads the part table so it knows where to find the info. Try to only add a few files and only have those files on the drive only 100 or so then plug it in and see what happens. If it works that is your problem, the drive is to big and the head unit can't see something that big.

This is a link to JVC support site where you can download the manual.
However for a quick jump start. It is the LIGHT GREEN cable.
Regarding the phone, reading the manual will be your best solution. Plus it is good to have a manual around.
Unfortunately not, First, Most Many Decks don't offer a powered USB port. Because the Portable HD has Moving Parts It can't start up without a power source. Also Many HD require specifi Drivers in ordered to be Functional, which the Deck most likely does not have installed on it... and unfortunately I don't brelieve there is a way to do intall them. One Solution you could try is to buy a external drive that has a seperate power source from than the usb and then try plugging it into an inverter and connecting it to the deck via the usb. I can't garuntee it'll and i believe you may just be better off purchasing a large capacity flash drive. Hope this helped
So I decided to verify all the connections after I got frustrated with it. Everything was correct except one wire that was on the new harness I got that for my car that was labeled "12V fused" (supposedly the key on power source). I tested it with my volt meter and it did not have power at any time, even with the key on. The constant power source wire was hooked up so that's why I was able to open the face and eject CD's and DVD's but not do anything else (like when your ignition is off). So I ran a new wire from my fuse panel and everything works now. Just like my Thermodynamcis professor says "nullius in verba" (take no one's word for it), just because the wire was labeled doesn't mean it's right! Hope this helps.....
