Your local dealer is correct. This motherboard will not accept Vista. There are no drivers for Vista. This is due to the particular type of CPU that this motherboard will accept. It is considered to be orphaned, meaning its abandoned. This CPU was superseded by AM2 CPUs.

You can get an affordable replacement motherboard and CPU that will be better suited for this version of Vista you purchased. But, overall it will likely cost you a great deal more than the cost of the copy of Vista you purchased.

My judgment is based on your selecting your motherboard at the K8V-MX. If this is not your motherboard please let me know.

    Regards,

I am using vista on amilo d7830 without any problem. the local dealer needs a slap under the ear for misleading you.
vista intsalls most of the drivers itself. only sound and modem drivers need to be installed and drivers provided for windows xp by fujitsu are compatible with vista. as regards the memory you can buy it from crucial in 50£ for 2gb and it does not need any drivers etc.
this note book has poor graphics card so aero score is "1". apart from that vista works like a charm.

Vista is a horrible operating system. It has many bugs and does not support older systems, cameras, scanners, printers, etc. You are much better off staying with XP. Believe me, I have many users with tons of Vista problems.

RAM upgrade

You can actually add another 256, or a 512 or 1 Gig there depending on the type of RAM you wish to install.

If the rams are identical like all 1-sided or all 2-sided modules, they can work harmoniously. You can't just mix a 1-sided ram with a 2-sided ram.

But the safest way for you to do is simply bring your laptop to the store where you wish to buy the ram upgrade. There, you can readily test the compatible ram and buy it.

Canon MP500 all in one printer is not compatible with Windows Vista. Is there a solution for this problem, or do I need to buy a different printer?

My Canon PIXMA MP500, purchased in mid-2006, came with the (then) ScanSoft OmniPage SE2 software on a CD. The PC had WinXP Installed. I had no use for the ScanSoft it so I made no effort to install it.
Fast Forward:
Two PC crashes later, July 2009. Using Win Vista Home Premium
LOST, important WinWord document file, only a hard copy available.
I tried to recover, scanning the "Xerox" copy. The SE Version of OmniPage was very complicated but I succeeded in producing a replacement *.doc file.

It appears that newer editions of WinVista contain the right printer drivers for this Canon Model.

Upgrading the OS Windows XP not possible

Upgrading from OS Windows XP:

you can upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista(ultimate, premium, home, business.......),
you have to buy a Windows Vista CD and install a fresh copy or format.

Some Minimum Requirements:

i) Min 2GB RAM or atleast 1GB RAM(if you have>1GB RAM installation of Windows Vista will not continue)

II) External Graphic Card. for some versions of Windows Vista(to run Aero Interface, special feature only   in some versions of Windows Vista)

NOTE:

"Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor" is a software from Microsoft which you can download from internet, this  can help you determine which features and edition of Windows Vista will run on your computer.

i.e., when u load this software on windows xp it will suggest which upgrade version of windows vista          will suit your system(based on you system configuration. or hardware components.) and then            you can install the upgraded version of windows xp(mostly windows vista home,.........)

Thanking You

Sorry for you hell--been there. Unfortunately, I hate Vista. Many people think that it won't work properly unless you have a min. of 2048 MG AND a dual-core processor---endless conflict messages. This isn't really a good suggested solution--just bear in mind that you may need to upgrade in order to fix. Because you purchase Ultimate, you are entitled to Mircosoft help at no charge, rather than $24/call or whatever. They are the people who perpetrated Vista on us before it was ready, and without warning about the enormous memory and CPU requirements--so it is their problem, not yours. Get them to fix it, tell you what you need, and if they cant fix it, I'd go back to XP for another year and get your money back. Good luck.
