I have a toshiba Satallite A105 laptop, it shuts down instantaneouslywithout any warning or sign. I gave it to some repairshop thinking itwould be the overheating problem, they said that they cleared up thedust and everything. Now the fan seems to run fine, I can hear it! butthe problem came back after 4 days.. fan is still running fine! Don'tknow what is the problem now, sometimes it runs absolutely fine for30-45 mins before shut down and sometimes it doesnt even boot properlyand shuts down. Please suggest what could be the problem. Also, Ithought may be it's my battery which is causing the problem cuz it;sworn out totally, so i tried running it by removing the battery anddirect with the power source, but even that didnt help.. same issue!:(
If you remember what time it last randomly shut down on you, use the system event viewer to see what errors were given just before it turned itself off. You can access the event viewer in Windows XP by clicking on the Start button, then click on Run, and in the box that pops up type in "eventvwr" and hit enter.
Click on system on the left hand side to view the log files of the system. Browse down until you find the time when your laptop turned off. Hopefully there is a series of errors there. They should be able to tell you something about why it is doing it.
Hope this helps, feel free to post some of the errors back here if you find any!

I can´t turn it on. I´ve had it checked and everything seems to be OK, although I suspect the battery´s life is ending. The current passes through, because the blue light is on, but it doesn´t turn on, and there´s no problem with the electric line.

I am so frustrated. This program feels like a scam to me. I have uploaded the pop several times; tried to fax the pop to 2 separate fax numbers provided and sent a copy in the postal mail; emailed customer service and still the status remains on my brother's request for a windows upgrade remains as "new" requires valid pop. This has been going on since November 4th. I purchased my notebook from hp and received my upgrade immediately. Needless to say in the future, toshiba will not be our choice for purchasing merchandise!
