You need to go to the manufactures site and download the VISTA
driver for the camera. Then follow the info below to install
Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall
the CD or Downloaded software program. When the program asks you
to connect the camera to the USB port, do so and it should work.
Hope this helps. Bud
I also have the same problem, I've just upgraded my OS from XP SP2 to Vista Home Premium Edition and my A4TECH PK-750MJ won't work anymore but in my previous OS which was XP SP2, it was just a plug and play, no driver was needed, unline now, drivers were installed but it's still looking for the .inf file something. Please help! Thanks!
I just checked to verify that Microsoft does indeed offer a Vista compatible download for that cam. If you are serious about using the cam on the Vista machine, maybe you should try downloading the driver directly from Microsoft. It is entirely possible that the CD drive on your Vista machine is having problems reading the CD that came with the webcam and the download would be a direct install from the hard drive. Heck, it's worth a try, don't ya think.
If you have a vista capable 98067 ver.1 you will need the vista driver for it located at vista drivers. Even though you are using XP the driver is tied in with the Vista one for your camera. I hope this helps.
This fix will work for all of the VEO Stingray problems because it
gives a good driver download site and it tells you step by step how to
get your cam to work with VISTA Good Luck and let me know if this fixed
1.Go to this site and download the driver you need: http://www.softsci.com/veodrivers.htm
2.Download it to your desktop
3. Don't unzip, install, or plug in your cam yet
4.Search for this in your start menu: Program Compatibility Wizard
5. Of the three choices click the one that says look for the program manually
6. Choose the option for XP
7. Choose the 680 x 420 or whatever it is not the 256 colors
8. Choose to run as administrator
9. Click next and it should change your screen to a real big resolution and then it will start to install the driver
10. Go through the install wizard
11. After it has loaded plug in your camera
12. Try a program that it is supposed to work with
13. Finish the Compatibility Wizard
now everything should work for your cam. This works with all of your programs that vista will not run.
Welcome to Vista. The banner was correct. The fact that it worked at first was a fluke. Let me explain. The driver worked the first time because something messed up in Vista and the driver made all the proper connections with the OS and application to work, but this was a mistake kind of like falling off a moving motorcycle and finding one million dollars (It just does not happen every day). You can try to replicate the install, and this might work, for the most part you have to get all of the upgrade downloads from microsoft and somewhere in all of that will be a utility that will allow you to uae your camera.
