Question about Dryers
8-year old GE DSXH43 heavy duty dryer has drum that used to make squeaking noise and has a gap along part of it that catches clothes.
Does anyone know if this fixable or does it require an entirely new drum?
I've been told that we should just put the money to a new dryer but we have a space problem and many new models are too large so I'm leaning towards fixing it. Any thoughts?
Most driers are now smaller in overall size and have ratings as to their capacity
many are more energy efficient , drying quicker than the older models
check the spares availability at an authorized repair agent spares for a new drum as fixing it would be the last option

SOURCE: This dryer STINKS
most of the time this problem is caused by a vent restiction or mashed vent behind the drier what i tell my customers is to run 4' pvc plastic pipe from the outside hood under the house then use a90 degree elbow to come up through the floor and a small piece of metal flex vent and clamp for the final connection you'll never have a vent problem again i know how you feel and im not saying your not right just giving tech advice so you don't have same promb with new drier im a real svc tech and im concerned with you also call lgs cust relations people not cust service cust relations be nice say you didn't think lg was like this and you don't know if you just got a bad drier or what tell the whole story fire and all don't mention pile up of lint they want you happy with there products and most of the time will help some times even give you a new drier you got nothing to lose by trying all appliance mfg are afraid of the fire word worth a try do it right might get a new drier but do your vent before inst any time it takes more than an hour to dry clothes ita a washer promblem clothes too wet or a vent promblem sorry for you promblem just trying to help

If the clothes catch on the drum edge the felt seal is worn out , and the squeak could be the bearing the drum rest on or the belt tentioner , it may need oiled , you can buy the felt seal replacement kits online and they are not hard to install.
Hope this helps.

its just the bearing and it needs replaced. it will take about two hours to do and it will cost you about 30 dollars in parts. you can find many really goods vids on youtube that will show you how to do it and most parts manufactures now have directions on how to do it in the cluded when you buy the parts.
