Question about Onkyo TX-SR604 Receiver

1 Answer

No Power I plug the unit in, and no clicking, no power. This is a Onkyo AV Receiver TX-604. I checked with a meter and it is getting power to the power board, 120 v, I hit the power button and nothing. I did find tho if I take the power board off the frame were it is not grounded to the rest of the unit the unit does power on and I get lights on the display, every light for that matter and they just stay on, but nothing works yet. It kinda seems like a grounding issue to me, but I am not sure. Or if not being grounded to the rest of the frame it just does that. All the fuses work fine, check them with an ohm's meter. All cable are or seem fine. Not sure what else to check, or if it is junk. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks

SOURCE: ONKYO AV RECEIVER TX-SR603X

When I initially bough mine, I had the same problem. It wouldn't shut down, but occasional popping sound on the center speaker. Turns out the impedance on the speaker was 4 ohms, not not 8. Replaced center with an o 8ohm speaker. This receiver is not reated to run 4 ohm speakers. If I had problems with 1, I can only imagine what kind of problems could happen if all the speakers were 4-ohms.

SOURCE: Onkyo TX-DS777 does not retain settings after power loss

No internal battery, a large "SuperCap" on the main board acts as one. Look for C8007, 0.1 F, 5.5V.

Onyko tx nr616 receiver keeps shutting off. Only stays on for approximately 3 seconds. Can you help?

The amp protection circuit has been activated. Remove the power cord from the wall outlet immediately. Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources, and leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected for 1 hour. After that, reconnect the power cord and reconnect an input and a pair of speaker wires onto the unit. If the receiver still does not turn on than you will have to bring it in for service. Turn up the volume and if the receiver doesn't shut down, power off the receiver and add another pair of speakers. Power up the unit again and turn up the volume. If it doesn't shut down, power off the unit again. Now connect all your input sources and turn on your receiver. If the unit shuts down again, your unit will need to be further serviced at an authorized Onkyo service center.

Try factory reset: while holding the(CD) button on front panel, press (POWER) button.
After "Clear" is displayed the unit should be back to its factory default. :) If this dont work for you take the unit to be checked by service . :)

Had a power surge and now my Onkyo TX-SR607 will not power on. Only get a constant click sound. Any repair advice?

although power surge can trigger activations of protection circuits,

there are at times, damage is done before it is activated.

• Check first for low power supply regulators,

then check for possible output stage failure.

let me know if you need further assistance!

Onkyo TX-SR502 AV receiver

this could be the pre amp transistor or the power amp that needs replacing
the pre amp transistor is cheap but the power amp is not
if you did not crank it , then it is probably just the transistor that needs replacing
