Question about Honeywell Programmable Thermostat Heater

HELP NO HEAT

My notice my heater not working. I thought the thermostat wasn;t working so I bought a new one.SAME problom.My heater fan comes on and the heating element is lighting but no ignition. WHATS the deal?

Sounds like a gas valve issue. if the hot surface ignitor is glowing red then the next step is for the gas valve to open, if it doesn't then it sounds like the valve, if it does open but only for a few seconds then it is your main burner flame senser.

Why doesn't the fan come on? Used to work fine with the old thermostat.


Some of the new programmable t-stats have to have the fan configured to run in the heat mode. I'd suggest going though the configuration menu and check to see that it is set correctly. I'd bet its not. Some furnaces require the stat to turn on the fan in the heat mode just like it turns the fan on in the cool mode whereas other brands of furnaces have the fan control built into their control scheme.

You might have some thermostat wires that are touching meaning the insulation has been broke off and getting a direct short. Check the wiring going to the outside unit and replace any wire that is in bad shape. let me know okay. Ken

If when you turn the heat on you hear the furnace fan start up (exhaust fan) then the problem is NOT the Thermostat....need some more info on the furnace...the Wiring in the thermostat should include a Jumper wire between RH & RC if you have 4 wires and no jumper required if you have 5 wires

Sounds like you have a problem with your heat pump. Your aux heat is a electric coil. how old is the unit when was the last time it was serviced? How cold is it out side?

with the fan in the auto position, the fan only comes on during a demand for heat.  does it not come on during a demand for heat?

sometimes there's a differential setting anywhere from 1-3 degrees, see if you can make sure it's down to 1
