Question about Check Point (CPWSHCRA6500UUS) Router

1 Answer

Loss of internet connection when going through router

Everything working fine until tonight when internet connection lost. Spent lot of time with Comcast and they finally decided problem with router (CheckPoint Zone Alarm Z100G), which has been acting fine for several months.
1 computer hard wired from router
4 computers around house are wireless

Hard wired computer keeps coming up with ipaddress of 192.whaterver which Comcast says means it is hooked to a router. Even after unhooked from router it gave same IP address and would not connect. After typing ipconfig /release it still says 192. After rebooting computer it still says 192 and won't connect

Plugged a laptop directly from modem. IP config gave 2 digit address which Comcast says means it is not going through the router (but I guess you know that, don't you!) Can get on line with laptop. When I then hooked to laptop through the router I cannot connect. Comcast says it has to be a problem with the router. That doesn't explain why the desk top computer continues to say 192. Sounds like I have multiple problems but what do I know. If I knew anything about this stuff I would not have to be asking you. Anyway, thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Yes, some time ago my computer guy downloaded the file to fix the problem with Windows XP and the internet connection with the Zone Alarm router.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Your laptop seems to be hooked to your neighbours unsecured network automatically and it is going online with that. About comcast, when you connect a router to the modem or a computer to the modem, the modem has to be rebooted to give a valid IP to the connected device. If the modem is not rebooted the computer or the router will get 192.168.x.x IP address which is called private IP address.

I plug my router into my modem and it just doesn't want to work with me. Everything was working fine, and then last night my connection gradually got worse until I lost the Internet. I plugged my computer...

There must be a small reset button on your router. Hold it down for 30 seconds. Release it. wait for one minute. Now unplug the power and plug it back in. Wait for 1 minute.
Once you reset the router, it will come back to factory default settings.
You will need to reconfigure the router form the start according to your Internet service provider.

I just bought a Sony Bravia TV and am trying to connect it to the internet via my WPN824v2 LAN - it's not working and the LAN lights never light up on my router. Wireless connections are fine - even new...

I spent the last day trying to solve this, what worked was:

Home
Settings
Network
Refresh Internet Content
Wait (a while) until it Authenticates

Normal Internet service resumed :-)

Router not connecting to internet modem

This is a tuff router.  I bought it myself hoping for good things, and spent a good two days actually getting the thing to work.

I got mine to work by plugging it into the modem, the laptop I was setting it up with, etc, and then running it all. I would just suggest trying to reinstall it again with everything plugged in from the get go, and then hope for the best.... sorry I cant help more.

Linksys Power cut problem

With regard to power cuts, i highly suggests you to buy a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) to prevent further damage to your router. You can simply reconfigure the wireless settings of the router by accessing the router's Setup Page. Go to http://192.168.1.1, go to wireless tab and you can change the network name as well as enable the wireless security.

Belkin Wireless G Router causes loss of internet connection

Does your router have one LED lamp for each "wired" port?
If so, does unplugging the Ethernet-cable (the one that connects to your desktop PC) cause the lamp to go off?
Does reconnecting that cable cause the lamp to go on?

Also, on your desktop computer, there could be a lamp right beside where the Ethernet-cable connects into your computer.
Again, disconnect the cable, and reconnect the cable, to see if that lamp goes off/on.

Have you tried a different cable?

Do *NOT* connect your desktop computer to the 'WAN' port on the router -- connect it to any of the "LAN" ports.

Loose connection

  1. Update the Firmware on your router.
  2. When you lose internet, look on your modem and make sure that no lights have gone out. (i.e. Cable) If this one goes out, it is your provider.

Wireless doesn't work when network is secured

Please check the key index set on the wireless router. Then, please check the key index setup on the laptop/desktop?

The key index can be found by going to Wireless Network Connection Properties and on the Wireless Networks tab.

Hope this helps :)
