Question about HP Officejet Pro L7580 All-In-One InkJet Printer
Have been using printer for 4 months and stopped working suddenly stating no black/yellow ink. Sometimes says no black ink. Told that these are no ink cartrges, but "printheads" (special order) Matched all numbers on printhead and replaced with new printhead (C9381a) as per instructions. Printer still reporting no black ink reserve and still have no use of printer. I amnot aware of another source of ink that is considdered a "cartridge" for this model. Please help.
I have had trouble with HP7580 since last Dec when a pinthead (not a cartridge) msg said black printhead is bad or missing. Put a new one in and printed about 10 days with 3-5 "pages" a day maybe. Then the msg was magenta printhead missing or bad. It is now 3 June and the thing still doesn't fax, copy, or print. The printhead msg disables the whole shooting match. There is a chip in each printhead and it is set to have ink remain in the head but to stop everything NOW till you spend another $60 each printhead and replace when IT wants you to. It is a rotten setup by HP to "give" you a nice printer but to access your bank account regularly for printing any part of a page at a certain number of pages irregardless of amount of ink. My advice: nix HP for this policy. Ink is cheap and they get $60 plus for 2 lousy oz--a shotglass amount. Wait till the cartridges run dry $15 each for 4. That is $180 for about 2000 pages, it counts pages not ink. Don't buy an HP all in one is my solution, even though it is a good printer. It sucks ink like a camel.

Your printer does indeed have cartridges...4 in fact, along with 2 printheads. 1 printhead is for Magenta/cyan. The other for Black/yellow.
You know where the printheads are. The ink cartridges are below them. There is a door that pulls down to expose all four.

Consider XL cartridges...they last much longer.
