Question about GE JGRP17 Gas Single Oven
Oven broiler works fine but bake element does not work. Replaced bake element today and still not working. When oven turned on to set temperature oven automatically starts beeping indicating it has reached the desired temperature but not the case. My wife just informed me she set it to 500 and it started working. I in return set at 300 and unit started working after about 10 minutes, turned off let cool down to see if it would automatically start working, but no luck. Also informed it was working but not been reaching desired temp for some time.
The temperature sensor is bad. The broil element will work even if the temp sensor is bad but the bake element will not. If you measure the resistance across the contacts on the sensor, it should be around 20 ohms, if it is much higher (1000+), then it is bad and should be replaced. It is just as easy to replace as the elements and looks like a small pencil sized rod in the inside top of the oven. Let me know how this works out for you.
