How to Fix Dryer Lint Problems

Instructions Things You'll Need:

Vacuum cleaner

Screwdriver

Electric leaf blower

Remove the lint trap from the dryer and peel off the accumulated fuzz.

Vacuum the top of the dryer, the floor nearby and underneath for lint at least once a week. When you remove the lint trap, tiny particles fly into the air and settle nearby. Behind and underneath the dryer are favorite hiding places for dryer lint.

Disconnect the vent tube from the rear of the dryer and inspect it every month. Dryer lint accumulates more easily in flexible plastic tubes than rigid aluminum ones, because curves halt the lint's path.

Clean the vent tube leading to the wall annually. As for the tube leading to the exterior, a trick that sometimes works is aiming an electric leaf blower down the tube. The leaf blower can expel the lint through the exhaust on the exterior. Before using the leaf blower, check that all duct work is fastened securely.

Unscrew and remove the back panel on the dryer, if you're mechanically inclined. Particles that escaped the lint trap can accumulate inside the dryer cabinet, so vacuum this area.

F @ P DEGX2 lint trap problem

If you are collecting more on the outside of the house means the lint filter has a tear in it and the lint in being pulled through the tear and pushed out the exhaust. It sounds like you need a new filter but this isn't cheap. If you do it your self it will run about $70 if you get a repair man it will cost about $150.

Lint is massing toward the bottom of the lint trap

please check your exhaust vent, where the dryer air comes out of the house, this particular pattern is very indicitive of a slow moving exhaust, you may need to clean the duct between the machine and exhaust as well

Water in dryer

Clean out the lint trap and the vacuum the slot it goes into. Also clean out the vent hose and vacuum out all of the lint inside the dryer where the hose attaches. This is normally caused by lack of air flow.

Odor around the lint trap, cleaned but persists

The lint trap is an opening into the dryer vent and vent pipe. The dryer needs to be pulled out from the wall, the vent pipe disconnected and then the back of the dryer and the entire pipe cleaned of lint and other debris. this is the only way to get rid of the odor.

Is it possible that the automatic sensor can fail on a dryer.

hi, Sounds like everything mechanical and electrical is working. The sensors are located on the outbound air ducts. You may be able to improve things significantly by removing the dryer vent where it attaches to the rear (or side) of the machine, and cleaning the tube going into the machine. While you have it removed from the vent, remove the lint trap, use your vacuum crevice tool and clean the trap area. If you have the ability to blow air through the trap area, blow it through the crevice tool so that you are as far beyond the screen area as possible. Be warned that it may blow dust and lint from the vent, covering it with a piece of nylon stocking will catch most of it. The object of this whole exercise is, the exhaust air ducts collect dust and lint which collect moisture from the damp items, the sensor reacts to this so cleaning out as much of it as you can will help. Good Luck to You!
