I need wiring diagram for Amana AKT3650E. I have 220VAC supply without a neutral. Electricain says the warning lights need 115VAC. How it that achieved?

So the manual:

says the power requirements are 120/240 VAC 3 wire single phase.

Almost all wiring includes a ground wire, so saying 3 wire also says it additionally has a ground wire. However, many oven outlets were wired using the neutral as the ground (now considered illegal - especially for new installations) - so they had a 3 prong plug.

Metering from any 2 holes (at a time) in the receptacle should reveal 240 V (across the similar slots) and 120 V and 120 V (from outside slots to middle slot).

Can I replace the plug *only* on a Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 range with a 3-prong plug?

there should be a short metal strap or the center lug itself connected to the body of the range from factory you only need a four wire cord if you are in a modular or mobile home then connect green wire to any screw on range body itself such as at large wire clamp where cord enters body of appliance

Spectra profile performance jb960k0d1cc has power but neither oven and stove work

what type of power cord does your range have? is it a three prong cord or a four pronge cord. If it is a four pronge cord you must make sure that the ground wire is attached correctly on the back of the range. You can refere to your owners manual that came with the range on how to hook up the range cord.

I need to change the four wire prong to a three wire prong on ge spectra range. Is this safe?

The 4 wire cord has only been around for a couple years for decades only 3 wire cords were used.It would be perfectly safe to use a 3 wire cord. Just be sure that on the center teminal where the white wire is that's their a link between the cord block to the cabinet if not attch a wire from center cord block to the back panel. Like they are when they leave the factory and it may have been removed when 4 wire cord was connected.oldtech2332_7.jpg

Replace your three wire plug with a four wire plug. You will have to add a ground wire.

In your present plug you will find a white neutral and two 110 wires (AKA 220) one black and one red. There is no green ground in your present plug, There should be a ground in your present box, if not, you can add one to the nearest cold water pipe. If you are uncertain how to do this, maybe you should consult a licensed electrician. Conversely, you can change the 4 conductor wire from the new machine to a three wire - simply omit the ground.

Whats the big deal? There is a extra margin of safety with the additional wire - providing a path to ground in case of trouble.

Your call.

How do I wire a 3 prong power cord to a 4 prong stove?

it will be the same way as the four prong except there is no green wire to ground so long as the middle wire goes to the center post of the terminal block and the two outer wires go to the left and right sides of the terminal block everything should be fine.

I have a Rheem 50 gal nat gas Powervent 2 water heater. It keeps shutting off. The flashing red light is doing the 3 flashes - indicating that the pressure switch is closed. I have to keep unplugging...

I am not absolutely sure but experienced a similar fault with a hot water heater that may be related. The problem we had was with the polarity of the connection. The water heater was not hard wired and fitted with a temporary electrical cord. The wall plug was wired incorrectly so the power was on the neutral side and the power side was connected to ground.

Check the polarity of your circuit and ensure the white is connected to neutral and the black is connected to power. Also many of these devices require the green wire ground connection so if there is a "three prong to two prong adapter" it needs to be grounded correctly, inserted correctly or removed.

Wrong power chord I need to change from 3 prong to 4 prong.

The following link describes how to convert from a 3-prong appliance cord to a 4-prong:

The difference is the way the Neutral (White wire) is configured. On a 4 wire configuration, the neutral is independent of the ground (Green) wire. Which means you DO NOT ground the white wire. Ground gets attached to the equipment cabinet or appropriate ground lug.

NOTE: This is for United States standard wire code. If you live outside the US, your wire color coding will differ. Please let me know if this is the case.

Let me know if you have any questions. I hope this helps you.
