Can you be more specific as to the exact error, and what you have done to correct it thus far?

Are all the cartridges in place? Are they New or Refills?

Here is what worked for me on an hp officejet 5510 after all suggestions I found googling failed:

Turn off and unplug your printer. Get a bright flashlight and set it down so that it shines on the printing device that holds the cartridges throughout the following process. If necessary gently push the printing device toward the center so you can easily see and access it. Remove both cartridges, even if your printer indicates a problem with only one. Now align your eyes so that you are looking squarely at the empty cartridge spaces, not from an angle. If your printer has the problem mine had (and it arrived this way new out-of-the-box), one of the verticle rungs that hold the sides of the cartridges in place is not exactly perpendicular to the printer, but slightly slanted or curved. Compare the (incorrectly) slanted rung to the others that are (correctly) perpendicular. The pronged "foot" at the bottom of the slanted rung is not standing in its corresponding "shoe" (slot). Gently slide the "foot" into its slotted "shoe" so that the rung now stands perpendicular to the printer and parallel to the other rungs. Now click the cartridges back into place. Plug your printer in and turn it on. This fixed the problem for me.

I have learned that Office Depot refills do not work on these printers. Do not use refills even if they are packaged for sale.

My printer states "paper jam" although I don't see any paper. I bought new ink cartridges & it doesn't print the multi-color, only the black.

Paper jam means just that. Look for paper or a piece of paper jammed into a gear or stuck between a roller or even in your ink cartridge . When you put in your new ink did you take off the protective seal and run the HP software to check if it is reading the Cartridge ,You might want to read the instruction on how to install an ink cartridge. It might also help you ?

How i open the body my printer

Hi,

In case you are trying to replace the cartridges then you need to power the printer off and open the ink cartridge cover on the left of the printer and replace the cartridges.

In case you are replacing the print heads, the top cover needs to be opened.
Press and hold the resume button to make the print-head move all the way to the left.

Lift up the latch and replace the print-heads.
Before you install it, please shake them 6 times, as instructed on the pack.

You will need to remove the protective orange caps before you install them in their color coded slots.

The slots for both the cartridges and print-head are color coded.

Then, close the doors and the printer will print an alignment page.

Once done, your printer is all set to be used.

You might want to refer to this helpful video which shows you the steps for all the directions I have stated above.

If this doesn't work for you, please comment and let me know, and I will be happy to assist you to further resolve your issue.

I will appreciate your feedback and positive rating for this solution.
Thank you.

Copier states to ''insert color cartridge''

When you installed the new cartridges, did it ask or display if you "installed a new ink cartridge" press the ok botton to rest the cartridge back to new. Then it will ask you to aline the cartridge and it will print a test print and ask you to place the print out on the glass. Do the same for the next cartridge..... I have one question, is this a new problem with the new cartridges????

The printer doesn't recognize the new original HP color cartridge

There is a small spring that holds the ink cartridge in the ink holder. You will see it stick out from the right hand side of the ink holder where the ink cartridge slides in. If that spring isn't being held to the ink holder by two plastic tabs, (I.E. the plastic tabs are broken) the printer will never recognize the cartridge. If the printer is still under warranty I would contact HP or an authorized repair center for HP. Both the black and color ink holder has this spring. I know of no way to repair this kind of breakage.

I loaded the black ink like I have done so many times before, but a window is coming up saying it does not recognize my color catridge and will not print. I dont even have a color cartridge in the printer.

Some printers will not print while missing either of the cartridges, was the printer working without the colour cartridge before?
Try inserting a colour cartridge and see if that helps.

Dell 942 all-in-one printer problems.

The problem is simple. Try inserting your old in cartridges. If the old ones work, the ink cartridges are defective. Contact Dell and get these replaced.
Otherwise the printer has a problem. try cleaning the metal contacts of the ink cartridge and the ink carrier.
