Question about HP PC Desktops

I recently removed and replaced the same hard drive in my laptop which is an HP Pavilion 4400. I booted it up today and I get a message that says there is no operating system detected. The computer will not boot up now.

Sounds like you bought your new hard drive clean with no . You simply need to put in a boot disc, such as a windows XP installation disc for example, and go through and install the operating system. Look through your CDs you got with your laptop to find a disc with a windows operating system on it, for example Windows XP Home. It may say 'press any key to boot from disc...' along the line so just press any key and you will be on your way to setting up your new system

Hope This Helps

MY HP PAVILLION 305W SAYS SYSTEMNOT FOUND WHEN I TURN IT ON JUST GOT THIS COMPUTER KNOWING ITS A DINO.. BUT IF YOU COULD HELP THAT WOULD BE APPRECIATED

First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

My dell dimension 4400 does not read the hard drive in bios

It is either your Hard Drive has gone out or it could be the power connector from the power supply has gone out. It also could be the SATA / IDE cable has gone out. I doubt that is your mother board however there is a very slim chance it could be.

I installed a new WD 500GB hard drive in an HP Pavilion 513n as a master and have a 60 GB hard drive as a slave for backup data. Both are set to auto in the BIOS. Every time I turn the computer on even...

I think, in BIOS setting your first booting device is the 60GB HDD. change it to HDD0 as 1st boot, CD Drive as 2nd boot and HDD1 as third boot device and it would not ask any error report.

My Hp Pavilion All in One Ms214 states operating system not found. Enter the bios and it isn't recognizing my hard drive. It states 0mb. It is a western digital caviar blue 320 gig.

Remove the hard drive from the laptop, and re-seat the hardware back in place. Turn the computer on and see if the hard drive will come to life, if this fails the hardware will need to be replaced.

.I just got my HP

The hard drive is bad ... nobody can fix it. If you just purchased it, HP should replace it. It should give you an error message when running the diagnostics from the BIOS ... something like 10008. They can use this code to authorize a replacement. If they will not replace it, ask for a supervisor or send it back. They should have a 30 return policy.

Restarting my pc

On MOST new computers today is a hidden partition on the Hard Drive that holds the ORIGINAL settings and programs for when you need to restore.

From memory when you first boot up, go into the boot settings using F8, and look for the correct line.. something along the lines of " restore original settings" or similar.

This will take you into the reset mode. I THINK it will workj without the disks but am not sure. I made sure I kept the original disk that I had to burn from a image on the hard drive when I first got this Laptop.

Good Luck.

Check in the bios if the Hard disk is booted as priority in the boot sequence and remove all cds in your drive....

Otherwise you will have to start the recovery again
