The Logitech wireless keyboard "moon" key set the power saver on but would not return the screen no mater what key I hit. So, I connected a standard wired keyboard and hit the space bar. Once returned I disabled the "moon" key though the Logitech software.

There is a long silver button with a black moon on the upper left of my keyboard. When I accidentally hit it, the screen goes black. What is it.....and how do you get your screen back?

Hi,
Depending on how your keyboard is configured, that key is set to do one of two things:
  1. Puts your computer to sleep. (A low power state where almost everything is shut off, including the monitor). You can resume from sleep by hitting any key on the keyboard, hitting the power button on your computer, or clicking the mouse.
  2. Puts your computer into hibernation. (An even lower power state where everything is actually shut off, but a copy of everything open is saved to the hard drive to be opened during start up. It basically allows you to turn off the computer, but be able to turn it back on with program exactly how you left it). You can resume from hibernation only by hitting the power button on your computer.
Hope this helps. If it does, please accept and rate the solution! You can leave a testimonial or contact me with any more questions you may have. Thanks for using FixYa!

The right shift key does not work as well as a few of the upper left control keys...everything else seems to be working just fine.

Hi there , this might be the ribbon cable connecting the keyboard to the laptop , lay the screen flat , look at the left hand side of the lap top , there is a strip you can lift up , where the power switch is. lift the strip up , you will now see the two screws holding the keyboard down, unscrew them , slide the keyboard up slowly and lift , gentaly you will now see the small riben cable, lift the small black catch , then reseat the cable , push the catch back, and reseat the keyboard. now retry the keyboard ...

Where is the sleep button on the VGC-RB52? Is it different from the power button?

It is the same as the power button if your computer is set to sleep when you push power. I was looking too because when you go into the power options in the control panel it shows a button with a half moon as the sleep button, but I don't have that on my keyboard. So I put the question in Vaio help and it said use the power button. I guess some Vaio keyboards have a half moon button, but mine doesn't. I did notice that when I thought I had turned it off using the power button when it got hung up that it did come back up with the move of the mouse. So it really is the power button, as long as it's set that way in the control panel.

Basically you need to tell the computer to "wake up." Different systems come out of power-save mode different ways.

First, try pressing the key to the left of the [CTRL] button on the right side of the keyboard. It looks like a list with an arrow pointing at the second line.

Next, if you have a keyboard with a little button that has a quarter-moon logo design on it, press it.

Also, look at the power light indicator on the CPU. It should change color when it goes into power-save. If it does, try pressing the power button once for it to wake up. The same is true if there is a power button on the keyboard.

If none of these work, you should look at your preferences and make adjustments. The power-save mode adjustments are generally found in the control panel under Performance and Maintenance in the Power Options section.

Hope this works for you!!

The Moon key is for putting your computer to sleep, the keypad light is probably the NUM LOCK LIGHT. When your screen blacks out will it come on again if you press enter on click the mouse button? if so, go into the control panel, click on the power options and look for the icon marked 'Screen' or something similiar. Change the timing to an hour or so...

Um...Did you try pushing the button again? I really dont know. If you have a manual, you may want to look in there, or contact Logitech, and have them walk you through it. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck.
