Question about Televison & Video

2 Answers

I have a Daytek LCD TV, which worked fine for a couple of years. Now there are problems with any bright white on the screen, for example views of golf that include sky, or commercials with white in them. The white on the screen jaggs out across the screen and the speakers emit an intensely loud and sharp buzzing sound. I've tried various settings with brightness and contrast, which lessens the effects slightly, but the problem is getting worse by the day.

    Hello dopey19_89,

You said: "Its sounds to be that the picture tube is (flaring) going bad you need to take it to or have a repair personal check it out."

The above advice is posted under your heading: "Generic problem for all Projection Televisions."

My TV does not have picture tube. Nor is it a projection television. As I mentioned in my query, I need a solution for my Daytek LCD (flat panel) TV. What can I do to fix the problem besides taking it to repair personnel?

The buzzing sound is coming from the yoke coils.
You need to replace it .

It is a main power supply regulator board problem. Contact any service technician. In most cases, this board might need replacement as card basis.

Go to your menus, set all to factory settings or default.
Test the camera by using more of the settings, and notice how it works.
The LCD settings especially are what you want to make sure are set right...not too bright, and of course not too dim either.

Picture quality

Hello - it's called burn-in and is a common problem with Plasma TVs. It happens around the 3 year mark. Later models from Hitachi have a white-wash option which can wipe the screen free from blurred marks etc. Have a look in your manual to see if this feature is available in your TV. If not, and you have a video camera, you can replicate the effect by filming a white sky or something similarly bright and white, then playing it through your TV and pausing the plainest, whitest shot you have. You'll need to keep this showing for around 24 hours. It's important that it is completely white, as if any of the film has a dark dot or mark, this will add to your burn-in problem. It's a bit of a long work-around, but it does work. Bear in mind that as your screen ages the problem will return at some stage. LCD displays don't suffer from this problem so that's something to bear in mind when the time comes to replace your TV. I hope that helps :o)
