Remote isn't working.

The remote isn't working, new batteries. The CD part of the equipment seems to need to be reset but can't find a reset button. Have tried turning off, unplugging can't seem to get it back.

Remote doesn't always work. New batteries.

Some people accidently obstruct the remote sensor on the system so that the remote can't send the signal. Check that it's not obscured by anything, including the position of the unit.

If that doesn't make any difference then either the remote is playing up, or the remote sensor has a fault on it.

Philips fwd798 does not switch off remote does not seem to operate properly batteries are fine cd tray does not open

Remove batteries and unplug from the wall receptical, allow 60 seconds to pass in a effort to reset the processor ic, if no change check speaker wires on back for shorts, if wiring okay have the unit checked for audio output ic problems.

Have a Emerson 6 chger CD/am/fm system. Do I need the remote to use the CD player?

Buy one universal remote control, which have setup codes for your device. Brand name isn't a matter.

My remote control does not work anymore for my JVC MXJ30 Stereo. How can I determine if I need to buy a new remote. The stereo works when I turn it on manually. However the CD player has stopped working....

There are a couple of things going on here.

The CD issue is, uh, common. They die. CD-cleaners are dubious at best.

For the remote, try this advice:

"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the
unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly. New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
Special Note:
If you have a digital camera, camcorder or camera phone you can test the remote to see if it is emitting a signal. Face the remote towards the lens of the digital unit until you can see the front of the remote. Depress any button on the remote. You should see a light (steady, blink or flashing) being emitted from the remote. If you do then the problem might not be the remote but the sensor on the unit.

eBay has some RM SMXJ30J remotes cheap. This one will set you back $11.50 delivered.

The unit doesn't respond to the remote. If I unplug it, it seems to reset. Sometimes it will not even respond to the power button on the unit itself.

9 times out of ten its the remote being the issue here try replacing the batteries ir cleaning the front where the remote sensor is that may help it. If you try-ed resetting the remote and still have issues this the remote will need to be replaced.

Thanks and do please click the accept button for my efforts.

Can't remove battery of remote to bose radio/cd player (won't work)

On the back of the remote there is a small hole. You need to slide the small lock in the hole over and the battery compartment should pop open. This requires something small like a straightened paper clip. You may need to coax it a little with your finger by pushing out off the end of the remote. There is a picture of this on the back of my remote. I just removed my battery so i could replace it. The battery size is CR2032.

Unit works from remote only, buttons on it do not. How can I reset the unit?

Look for owners manual at Sony web site. If there is a way to reset then that would be a good place to look. Doing a reset is a good idea. It could clear the "brain" on the unit. If a reset fails to repair then you may have a microprocessor problem. Something else that might be the problem, some units use a voltage "ladder" made of resistors to determine which button has been pushed. If the base voltage or ground is off on the ladder then all the buttons on that ladder will be interpreted wrong. Sometimes even just dirty contacts on the buttons themselves will cause that "ladder" step to be off when it is pressed. Good luck.
