ATT Constantly on

Hi,

I have a sony CDX m9900 and for some reason the ATT function is constantly on stopping any sound coming through the system. I go into the menu and turn it off but still no sound is coming through.

Was working fine one day then suddenly this function came on.

Have a blew the internal amp by any chance ? and is this a possible fix.

or is it something so simple that im missing it ?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi moj920

Unfortunately thats not the problem, iv had a look today and and asuming the mute wire is pink as the others are all acounted for then all is fine in that area. =(

All i can assume is that the internal amp has gone faulty and thats whats causing it. As the rest of the stereo works fine.

Are these units repairable? as i paid a wacking £450 3 years ago and i think the headunit is a great peice of kit. when its working lol.

    Thanks.

First thing i would check m8 is the cellular mute wire that is behind the head unit coming out of the main radio loom plug if the wiring is bare on that wire and its touching the stereos metal body or the black earth wire then that will make the att will come on because it thinks its recieving a call off a car kit so it mutes the radio automatically !

hope that sorts your problem out ;)

sad to hear that m8 it may be the amp at fault then but yeah theres loads of places that can repair them still if i remember right theres a good site on here www.fixmyradio.com. or .co.uk i know a lot of ppl who have used them on the car audio forums that say there service is second to none .

i,m sure your radio is the sony rolldown model where the screen folds over there known for ribbon cable faults but that won,t be related to your problem anyway good luck on getting it all working again :)

Check the speaker connections it looks like there may be a feedback signal going back to the internal amp. If those are fine then the amp itself is clipping and you need to have the player checked.

I hooked everything up but it only turns on constantly i cant get it to turn of with the rest off the car

you need to know which wire is your constant (+) supply and which is the switcheable (+) Connect the yellow wire from the deck to the constant + and the red from the deck to the switcheable + power as the red is you on off and the yellow is your memory. Sounds like you almost have it right-just need to find a switcheable power supply for the red .

Why doesnt it save my clock and preset settings

There is a wire on your stereo called the (constant) wire, it is usually either yellow or orange, this wire needs to be spliced into your power wire. It is constantly hot, hence the name. Find this wire and your presets and your clock should be good to go. let me know if this helps

Ok I have to say this before helping you. This is a safety feature, when you are driving you should be driving not watching a video, now since this is a technical forum and not a saftey forum here is your answer. First get a toggle switch conncet one end to ground and the other to the wire so that on means grounded and off is ungrounded. this way when you are driviing it will look like the parking break is on. Now some systems are smart and look for a series of things to indicate that the safety protocols may have been defeated, so what you need to do is test this out when the car is moving throw the toggle switch into the grounded position and your video should play. when you stop the car and exit put the switch into the off position. This should work for you. Again don't do this because you should have your full attention on the road.
