Re: how large of xd card in finepix a205
The Owners Manual states the FinePix A205 will accept 16, 32, 64, 128,and 256MB cards. I would expect it can accept a 512MB card. I doubt it will go any higher than 1GB, at the very most. If you have access to one, try it. The attempt will not harm the camera, but the card might have to be formatted *if* it is not compatible.

I'm curious....the camera came out in 2006....how did you buy a second one?...and more importantly, why? If something doesn't work, the first thing people do isn't to go out and buy another one. Anyway, from your description, the problem seems to lie with the cards, not the camera. All memory cards must be formatted (sometimes called "initialized") in the camera before use and regularly after downloading the pics to the computer. This erases the card and brings it back to original condition so download any pics you want to save using a separate cardreader if necessary and then, format/initialize them in the camera. Also, how old are these cards?....they don't last forever.
may be your cable is broken. and you must buy new one of that cable. or you can plug out your memory card (XD picture card) and you have to buy memory card reader for supporting your XD. You can buy in computer shop, or like that...
Fuji uses a 16MB xD card with
the camera, which won't hold too many 4 Megapixel photos
at the highest quality setting. So you should plan
on buying a larger card right away. xD cards are currently
available as large as 1GB, and I think 128MB is a good
starter size for most people. Be warned that xD cards
tend to be more expensive than CompactFlash and SD
I bought a new memory card for my finepix A330 camera When I turned on the camera after putting in the new card, the screen read "card not initialized" and won't take photos.my son is going holidays 13/9/08 could you help me please Alex Richardson
1) Make sure you are putting it in the Correct direction (check manual please):
If its a camera in which you are trying to put in the card then you would feel one click once you push it in the camera card slot and it will (should) stay at that position.
2) Make sure you are putting it in the Correct direction (check manual please):
If its an external card reader (with many card reader interfaces then ) then make sure you are putting your card into a right spot. Try to flip the card and see that the pins match where you are trying to put in.
