I have a large email that I tried to send 3 days ago. It is still in my outbox and I would like to delete it. When I try to delete it I get the message that Outlook has already started transmitting this message.
Go to your outbox, right click at top, option should come up to delete, click on delete.
Strange, I use Outlook myself and never run into that trouble, but windows can be unpredictable in many ways. I wonder if microsoft may have a solution to the problem it might be worth the time exploring that issue.
Delete old emails, next go to my computer and right click on c drive, select properties at the bottom and click on disk cleanup, this will reclaim some disc space, you should now be able to move the file or delete it.

i think you need to go to your user profiles under the e-mail section and there is a section in there that will give you options for deleting your e-mail from your inbox if your in out box gets too full that part of the account will be locked untill you go and delete them good luck !!!

This is a very strange solution, hopefully someone can help you out more than me, though whenever I have problems that are strange especially with microsoft email or anything internet related I delete my temporary internet files and reboot, and the problems go away.
There are two ways to remove the temporary internet files, through internet options or disk cleanup.
Internet Options can be found in Control Panel or in tools in Internet Explorer.
Disk Cleanup can be found by going to the Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk Cleanup.
After doing a disk cleanup it wouldn't hurt to do a defrag on the hard drive. Disk Defragmenter can be found in the same location as Disk Cleanup.
Personally I use the free Mozilla Thunderbird and haven't had any trouble. Of course most workplaces use microsoft products and you have no choice.
SOURCE: outlook express 6.0 outbox problems
This is a common problem with outlook express. The files have become too large for outlook express. I recommend blowing out all the emails. Try first empty the deleted items. If it will not delete. You need to find the folder associated with this identity. That would be in C drive then documents and settings then your username then application data (hidden folder) then identities. There will be a folder with a crazy name of numbers and letters. Go into this folder and you will see your inbox folder and outbox, sent box etc. Delete the folders that you dont have important emails in and this will dump that whole box. Make sure outlook express is closed when you do this. When you reopen outlook express it will recreate these folders empty. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

What OS are you on, XP or vista?
What version of Outlook Express?
Can you still connect to the internet with a browser?
It sounds like you might have a corrupted user profile.

The first thing that I tried was to right click on the message and click delete, many times. This did not delete the message.
