Question about Mitsubishi WS-55411 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Code 22, will not power up.

The set was left on for several hours and turned off by itself. Unit will turn on for a few seconds and then turns back off. Pressed the input and menu buttons and retrieved a code 22. I have tried to research this code but I am coming up empty handed. Can anybody point me in a direction?

I would also like to find a service manual for the set(either hard copy or download), can anybody suggest a place to purchase one.

Thanks in advance

I downloaded the PDF, but for some reason not one of my computers can open it. I even updated acrobat on all of them.

    Thanks for the link though.

do you have an e-mail? the way the site is set up it tries to immediately display the PDF before letting you download/ save it to your own hard drive, your PDF viewer on your comp just might not be able to process it right like that. I have the whole file on my comp (all 79pages, over 4mb)...I can send it too you in an attachment if you'd like

MITSUBISHI WT-A42 ERROR CODE 22 "SHORT PROTECT CIRCUIT"

error code 22 is a short protect circuit. this means the tv has found a problem in the tv and will not let it turn on till fixed. this could be several different circuits in the tv that is causing this. we need to test some parts to see what this is. the most common is a shorted convergence circuit. a repair on this would range around 400.00. You should check using a multimeter and also you should be good at soldering

PS:I strongly advice if you don't have experience in electronics then better leave this job to a tech

Try this first, unplug the unit and connect it to a different outlet and see if it corrects the problem. If it still continues, you will need to replace the control board. Good luck.

Before we start taking things apart, lets try your simple remove power plug routine and power system back up. Also, please try your unit on a few different channels to see if your problem continues on each channel. Your Main Board, Power Board, T-Control Board are suspected problems at this time. Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds, the unit should power down by itself after you have powered it on. If it does not, then do not be concerned. Let me know if the problem continues. The first link below will bring you directly to the troubleshooting guide if you need to continue forward with the same error. Same happened to me with my old panasonic set. It was a dry-joint. You can try re-soldering the circuit.

Good Luck.

Digital TV Converter keeps shutting off

The DTA800 has a Power Saver feature that turns the unit off after 4 hours if it is idle (no volume or channel changes).

Press MENU button, press #5 (Setting/Configuration), press #3 (Power Saver) Select OFF to de-activate this feature (no Power Saver).

This is covered on page 11 of the DTA800 user manual.

It's probably a cracked solder joint in the power supply / horizonal drive stages. As the unit heats up the joint is seperating and breaking connection. It could also be a component failing when it gets hot. Usually the voltage regulator or Horizonal Output Transistor (both mount to heat sinks).

If you know how to solder and want to tinker, unplug the set for a couple days (to let the power capacitors discharge) and resolder and crystalized it cracked joints on the board(s) where the power stages, and flyback transformer are located.

If you decide to operate the set with the back off, please be careful. The high voltage on a TV can be 30,000+ volts.

Hope that helps,

Geno

The flashibg red light

John, I do not know of a code, but it is a good idea in the design to have several goes at starting a circuit, before completely shutting it down. Oscillators are supposed to self start due to noise generated. Some electronic circuits require a reset pulse to be generated before the start up is allowed. The reset circuit may not be generated if the set is turned on again too soon, so it will stay in standby. This may normally be a few minutes to 30 minutes so it seems something in your set is faulty and could get worse. Try a test run with the back off and clean it out of dust with a long brush to keep it cooler. Make sure little fingers cannot get near it. Look to see if anything is obviously overheating.
