Car dvd player replacement to match headset monitors

My current dvd player for my car is broken. Can I just replace the in-dash player part and find one that just plugs into cables that run to the headset monitors already installed in the seats of my car? Thanks!

Thanks. The brand is Drive Mobile Entertainment, not factory from Ford. I'll look to see what wires are running from the headset.

Thanks again! I'm the farthest thing from a car audio guru so I appreciate the help! My only question now is what about the connection for giving the new unit power?

Yes you can aslong as the dvd isn,t a factory fitted one by your car maker etc

most dvd players in cars just have the standard red ,white and yellow phono outputs which plug straight into most headrests monitors but again it depends on what make is the cars dvd player and also what make are your headrest monitors ?

well just so you know the red and white phono plugs are your audio channels left and right and the yellow phono plug is your video input and i,m sure your monitors are sony by the name but i may be wrong ?

ideally you usuall find these plugs either coming out of the headrest monitor itself or they will extend to either a brain av box or will just plug straight into the back of the cars dvd player ;)

glad i was of some help and just incase your wondering i,m an car audio installer by trade :)

ok you asked about the power wiring ,on all dvd players theres usually only 3 main wires that you need which is a permanant battery live , a ignition live , and an earth which you can get all of these from behind the radio if you have to or better still there prob already joined to the dvd that you have in the car , you may need a power tester tho so you can figure them out .
