Has my phone a message leaving facility for outside callers?

The phone is part of a business communication system and you need a few additional components to create the voice message facility for outside callers. You have to add either a KVA or the KVS series voice mail system. For details on how these work please refer the manuals available.

Remote retrieval of recorded messages

Call your telephone number and wait for the system to answer. If the answering system is off, it will answer after about 10 rings and sounds a series of beeps.
During the greeting message (or a series of beeps when the answering system is off), press 0 and enter your PIN code within 2 seconds.
The answering system announces the current time and the number of messages stored in memory. You hear "To play incoming messages, press zero-two. For help, press one-zero." You will hear a beep.
Press one-zero to hear your messages.
Full details are in the "Remote Operation" section beginning on page 63 of the manual.

Hi,

Unable to leave voice mail, says good-bye

I don't think the voice mail is going bad.

On my 4424D+, I can turn off voice mail.
I use this feature when I'm gone for an extended period of time so I don't come back to 100 VMs.

Dial into your voice mail.
Choose the prompt for Call Answer Mode. (Option 8 on my phone.)
Then choose the prompt for Record Mode. (Option 1 for me.) This allows callers to record voice mails on your line.

Change voice mail message

Step 1 Compose your message ahead of time. If not, you may end up stumbling, looking for the right words while you are recording your message or leaving out some important details. Composing your message before you begin recording will save you from having to record several messages before you find one with which you are satisfied.
  • Step 2 Make it easy for your callers to listen your message. Record your message in a relatively quiet room without background noise. Speak loudly and clearly. For the benefit of callers who don't have much time, make your message as brief and to the point as possible.
  • Step 3 Begin the recording process by first locating the "Change" button on your answering machine. This button initializes the answering machine for adjustments to the settings of the various features.
  • Step 4 Locate the microphone on your answering machine and lean towards it until you are about nine inches away.
  • Step 5 Locate the "Annc" button. Press and hold the "Annc" button until it beeps. Begin recording your message.
  • Step 6 Watch the message window while you are recording your message. It keeps track of how much time has elapsed since you began recording. You can record a message that is up to three minutes long.
  • Step 7 Locate the "Stop" button and press it when you have finished recording your message. The answering machine will play your message back at this point. If you are not satisfied with your message, repeat the steps to record it again.
  • Step 8 Press "Annc" if you want to listen to your message again
