Question about Frigidaire Ovens

Open Question

Bake & Warm drawer on Frididaire oven takes forever to heat.

We purchased a Frigidaire oven in the spring of 2007 (Model GLGFM96FPBB). The lower oven simply does not heat up timely, nor is the temperature accurate when it does finally heat up. It takes approximately 45 minutes to heat up to a temperature that's somewhat close to 350 degrees. It's been like this since we had the oven delivered. Is there some switch or something that needs to be turned on in the back in order to get the dumb thing to work right? Thanks for your help!

Where is the speed bake switch located on a Frigidaire oven

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

Based off the information you have provided you need to know the location of the speed bake switch inside of your Frigidaire oven. I would be happy to provide you with that information, if you can provide me with your model number. You can locate the model number on the serial tag and that can be found on the bottom drawer frame. Once I have that information I would be able to assist you further. -Matt

GE Profile JTP85 (installed 1998). The lower heat element in the lower oven will not heat. I can make the upper element heat up by using the BROIL function, but neither element gets warm on BAKE.

Oven takes 20 minutes to fully heat on bake - Kenmore oven plt095-2

if its a gas model most of the time you will have a weak oven ignitor. if an electric, check to see if the bake element gets hot ,some ovens will bake with upper and lower elements so if only the upper works it will take much longer to pre-heat.good luck!

The coils should glow red when working. If the lower (bake) element does not glow it may be burnt out. Some ovens cycle the bake and broil elements during preheat and that mey be why you are getting some heat.

Kenmore oven lower element sporadically heating.

When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.
