Question about HP Scanjet 4200c Flatbed Scanner

Software can not find Scanner

Running XP Home with SP 3. Downloaded all of the Drivers, Operating Software Update, From the HP Site. The Device Manager shows the Scanner (working normal) and the Software is there and appears to work.However when I open the Program I always get the same answer -- Cannot Find Scanner ----- I have tried it about 5 times. answer is the same. HP is no Help. Anyone got an answer????? The Program will also ask if I want to continue without the saanner.

    Thanks. I have tried the Ports on my Hub as well as directly on the Tower, also changed Cable, Have Download the latest drivers from HP. Answer is always the same. My Canon, Lexmark, and Microtek Scanners work fine.

    The same exact sequence happens on my Gateway/WindowsXP with the 4200c scanner. I have tried everything westerntony did with the same result. And I tried the USB and other cable changes as well...no luck!



    There were no external changes in operating system etc that might have caused this disconnect. Previously it had been working fine. I would be MOST grateful for any help (ideally, a solution!) for this. With gratitude, Rev. Helen

Ok connect your scanner in other usb port also check that all usb proper working.
then try to change cable.
may be your xp sp3 virsion not detect your scanner install proper driver for that.

Point # 1 : Electronic devices are not made to be used sparingly or stored for long periods of time.

I cant install a hp scanjet 3770 on a windows xp sp3 mashine with the drivers i can get in the internet!


Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://support.hp.com
Enter the model-number of your device, and do a search.
Select your Operating System (XP? 7?).
Download the official device-drivers.
Install it.
Print a "test" page.

Hp scanjet 2400 - system is format but Scanner CD is missing how to install scaner software


Just goto th hp site and enter the model of you scanner, download the drivers. Don't forget to select your systems operating system (XP, VISTA)

Did you restart your computer after you downloaded your drivers and software? Did you select the correct operating system? Make sure the USB cable is plugged into the computer and the scanner...Open the toolbox and click scan or save and check to see if the scanner makes any noise or lights up...If you are using Windows XP then make sure you have downloaded the "TWAIN" driver and the "WIA" driver (two seperate downloads)

Make it work with VISTA home premium


What version of Windows are you using it on at present, or have you been in the
past? If XP then get the latest versions from:

There's a main download and an update.

If you have any HP software that you have tried uninstall it using Remove
Programs and then disconnect the USB cable from the PC end and install the XP
software as follows:

Locate the downloaded file ps804en.exe 1/1 (70.62M) on your computer, Right
Mouse Click on it and select Properties / Compatibility TAB.

On that TAB, check Use Compatibility mode and set it to XP with SP2 and also
check lower down the [x] Run as Administrator and OK your way out.

Do not connect the device until the installation procedure tells you to or
until you get to Finish.

Then repeat the procedure on the downloaded update file ps803mu.exe 1/1
(373.11k) although you can leave the USB cable connected unless it tells you
otherwise.

absolutely not, (MS) it could be for many reasons like incompatible drivers, incompatible OS, mind you if you can double check the right OS platform you have downloaded and the right bit as well, (32 or 64), XP or Vista, can you double check pls, these are some reson why it become too slow

you might want to check on uninstalling this again

After downloading the visioneer 9420 driver file (found on the visioneer site, but before installing it, remove your old 8100 driver, then install the 9420 driver by running the .exe file you downloaded from visioneer. Then, use Device Manager, go to -update device drivers and in the listing you should see the 8100 listed. Double click on it, click on -update, go to -browse my computer for driver software, then go to -let me pick from a list, then you should see the 8100 scanner appear, click on it, click on next, and then it will install the 9420 driver. My 8100 is working great on a vista system. Don't get rid of that scanner! It works!

Hppsapp.exe has encountered a problem and need to close


Older scanner that were around in Dos day - Win 95/8
Are not compatable with NTFS systems.
However this one thing to try.
Go to my computer/Help/and type /Compatability
This computer facility that allows the computer to run as Win 98- It may just work.
