Question about Breville Cordless Hand Blender - Silver

1 Answer

Breville hand blender doesn't blend continuously

Hi,

My new Breville cordless hand mixer will not blend continuously. I'm worried that I might be doing something wrong. I hold down the power button and then press either on the one line or two lines (depending on speed that i want) and it blends for about 1/4 second then shuts off and I have to take my fingers off of all buttons, wait a second and then try again. It has blended continuously only twice since I got it and I love it-- but if it only does this pulse thing then I think I need to take it back or get a replacement. Can you tell me if there is something I might be doing wrong. When I remove the attachement it turns on continuously but as soon as I put the attachment back on it only does the strange shut-off thing. Thanks Adena Rojas arojas@jhu.edu Please respond to my work email address arojas@jhu.edu

I have the same issue. I bought it at a Linens-N-Things closing sale. They said that all sales were final, but that manufacturers would warranty a product if the package was closed (which it was). Then I brought it home, charged it overnight and the next morning it had no continual pulse when I went to make my smoothie (soft items [banana, milk, blueberries]). After trying to get my money back from the store (they refused), I wrote an email to Breville which they flatly said they would not refund my money if it wasn't bought directly through them. Then they reviewed the steps to work the machine (which I had already done!). I can't even complain to the BBB because they are a manufacturing company in New Zealand and not in the U.S. I'm pissed that I have a product that is USELESS! I wasted money for garbage and they won't honor their own products. It pisses me off! Any other recourse that you know of, please don't hesitate to suggest. I'm out $70 for a worthless machine!

I have the same problem. Mine used to work, has only seen light use, and now it runs for about 1 second before it shuts off. Expensive POS. There don't seem to be any solutions either.

The chopping mechanism, which should turn freely, is "frozen" & won't turn. not even manually.

I'm assuming that this isn't happening on an model in which the bowl can be detached - otherwise the plastic bushing has melted and glued the shaft to the base of the mechanism - it will have to be replaced. You can find one on the Breville site
http://www.brevilleusa.com/blending.html
select yours and you will find it in the Parts &Accessories tab.
The mixer has an plastic bushing on the shaft of the chopping mechanism that is there to connect it to the shaft of the motor. If that bushing or the bearing of the shaft got damaged in any way the entire mechanism will lock out.
To find out what exactly happened you will need to dismantle the mixer - take out the 4 screws on the bottom, unclip the power wire, remove the supports of the motor and pull it out for inspection. Parts from older models can be obtained only from a dealer, you will have to contact one and order it .

How can I change the blade for my 2 speed hand mixer? The model type is NC-12 if you need to know

you are using your KitchenAid blender and it stops blending, you may think there is a problem with the motor in your machine. However, a common reason for the blades not rotating in the blender is a dirty or faulty coupler. The coupler is what connects your blender dispenser to the motor, and you can easily replace the coupler at any time by only using a screwdriver.
Things You'll Need
  • Flat-blade screwdriver
    • 1 Turn the blender dispenser clockwise and lift up to remove it. Set the blender dispenser aside.
    • 2 Insert a flat-blade screwdriver between the black drive coupler and the frame of the blender on the top center portion of the blender.
    • 3 Lift the screwdriver upward, and the coupler will start to bend out of place. Slightly turn the coupler and then lift up on the screwdriver again.
    • 4 Continue to move the coupler slightly and lift the screwdriver until the coupler is completely removed.
    • 5 Insert the new coupler over the blender's motor blade and then twist the coupler counter-clockwise until it is tightly fastened.

Hello, I didn't see model #BBL600XL which is what

The jar has to be on for it to blend.

If you replace the jar first check the printing on your old jar. If your jar has blue print you will need a new jar and blade, Breville redesigned the jar and now the old blades don't work with the new jars. You tell the difference between the jars by the print color, old is blue, new is white.

Grease build up around blade and where it attaches to base

Grease can only creep into the blender vase if the oil seal has worn out, or the blenders blade shaft is worn and wobbling. Try cleaning all parts in alcohol to soften the seals. Rebuild kits and replacement blades can be found here (http://www.brevilleusa.com/breville-parts/blending.html)
