    Hey mambo,

    thanks for your help. I called a repair guy. Once I opened up the TV, I realized it was not something I should mess with. Repair guy came and immediately told me it was the IC Conductors. I was able to suggest it was the relay or the IC Conductors. He was surprised I knew so much. This made him realize that he couldn't take me for a ride as I had done my homework. He replaced the conductors with original parts for $300.00. TV is as good as knew and should last atleast 5 years more.

    Thanks for trying though

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ,I FOUND OUT AFTER OBSERVING FOR QUITE SOMETIME THAT THE CLICKING NOISE I HERE AFTER PLUGGING IT TO THE OUTLET CAME FROM A RELAY SWITCH LOCATED ON THE POWER BOARD AFTER TAPPING ON IT THE SET WOULD POWER AND THE BLINKING RED LIGHT GOES TO NORMAL..I BELIEVE THIS RELAY IS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM FOR ALL THE FELLOWS OUT THERE WITH THIS TV SET AND THE BLINKING RED LIGHT..IN MY CASE THE RELAY WENT SO BAD NOW THAT THE COIL THAT MAGNETIZES TO CLOSE THE CIRCUIT GAVE UP ,SO I PULLED THE COVER OF THE RELAY TO UNVEIL THE TWO METAL STRPS THAT COME IN CONTACT AND HAVE BENT ONE SLITELY TO REMANE CLOSE THIS POWERS THE TV UP NORMAL BUT IN ORDER TO SHUT IT DOWN I HAVE TO PULL THE OUTLET. THIS IS TEMPORARY UNTIL I CAN FIND WHERE TO GET RELAY SWITCH. PLEASE DONT TAKE MY RESEARCH AS A SOLUTION BUT FOR WHAT EVER ITS WORTH. I WILL GET THIS UP AND RUNNING AGAIN ITS ALL WORTH EVERY DOLLAR TO FIX.

After reading mambo101 post.... i found the relay by plugging the tv in several times, followed the sound, then felt the relay to be sure it was the one. I tried tapping and knocking the relay a bit, that didnt help... so then i tried pushing in it.... it held and the tv stayed on while holding it... since it went off after letting go, i made sure to push a bit harder and held it there longer and WOOLA... it held. been working great so far. was even brave enough to turn the tv off and on a few times using the power button.
i had to do all this after the unplugging and replugging the tv in just would not work anymore.
I am no repair person, just had some experience as an aircraft electrician in the military, and already knew the sound was a relay... figured i would open the tv up and search for the relay.
I got this tv for free about 2 years ago. had the problem on and off, and finally i had to open it up. I love this tv, and wouldnt want to trade it even for a new hdtv.
Thanks to everyone who posts.... it was nice to find that i wasnt the only one with this problem.... and it made me realize... i dont always HAVE to pay someone an ungodly amount of money to fix things i can fix myself.
Gotta love the internet! Thanks everyone, and good luck to the others out there dealing with this problem.

RED FLASHING STATUS LIGHT

Possible lamp failure but lamp light not status should blink-I have suggestions but want you to try the self check first--if set has been unplugged plug it up and turn on and when it fails:

Mitsubishi TVtroubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and getthe regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons togetherfor about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.
Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filtercover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cablebetween FMT and Engine disconnected

Tv went off while watching a program power standby red light blinks 6 times then pauses then repeats tried unplugging unit waiting a few minutes then replugged same results nothing. can anyone help me ?...

Here's an excerpt from the Sony Manual online. And the link - http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/webtree.pl?template=EN&mdl=KDF55XS955&content_id=68&category_id=11&problem_id=52

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes three times
If your power/standby indicator is flashing in a pattern of three flashes, this may indicates that the lamp cover is not attached securely. Follow the directions in the Operating Manual under changing your lamp that related to closing and securing the Lamp Cover. Ensure that the Lamp Cover Door is securely fastened by tightening each screw.

The POWER/STANDBY (red) indicator flashes continously
If your power/standby indicator is flashing continuously, and the lamp cover has been secured, your TV may be in need of service.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up green (not flashing)
A sustained green light indicates your TV is on.

The POWER/STANDBY indicator is lit up red (not flashing)
A sustained red light from your power/standby indicator simply indicates that your TV is in standby mode. This shows you that your TV is ready to be turned on with the remote.

Is it the power light and not the lamp light? If the lamp light is flashing then replace the lamp.

Panasonic PT-53TWD63, TV will not turn on, Red power light blinks

It is most deffinately a convergence chip issue. The die for no reason. They can be bought online for around $10 dollars and anyone with experience with soldering can replace them pretty easily. I have done it.

Toshiba 50HX81 projection 'tv- blinking red light

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours,sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Toshiba TN55X81 Wont turn on but I hear clicking

Pull the three connectors to the yokes on the convergence board. If the set powers up, it's a good chance the STK392-110's need to be replaced. I fixed one today, and it has been running for 6 hours now.
